HOLY WEEK 2020 MESSAGE OF PRESIDENTIAL PEACE ADVISER AND CHIEF IMPLEMENTER OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT COMMAND OF THE NATIONAL TASK FORCE AGAINST COVID-19 SECRETARY CARLITO G. GALVEZ JR.

As we observe this year’s Lenten season, we are faced with the enormous challenge of staying strong not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually.

During these trying times, we, Filipinos, must show love, understanding, and compassion for each other and go beyond the barriers of one’s religion, ethnicity, and political beliefs.

Let us continue to pray for everyone’s health and safety, and do what we can to bring help and comfort especially to those in need.

This is the same message of Pope Francis as he emphasized to the Christians around the world in the time for the observance of the Holy Week amid the Covid-19 pandemic: “Let us try, if we can, to make the best use of this time: let us be generous. Let us help those in need in our neighborhood. Let us look out for the loneliest people, perhaps by telephone or social networks."

May the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ inspire us to think less of ourselves and reach out to others as we hasten our efforts to resolve this health crisis.

May this period of uncertainty bring us all together as one nation so that we can rise and heal as one.
