"A Maltese man who forced women to s*xually abuse his then seven-year-old son so that he did not “grow up gay” has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment.

The court was told that the 65-year-old man from the city of Siġġiewi in Malta, “didn’t want his son to be gay because he already had two gay family members”, Malta Today reported earlier this week. The man’s two cousins were gay. The man has not been named to protect the identity of the child.

"A new law decriminalizing same-s*x s*xual relations has gone into effect today in Angola. The new law overturned a colonial-era “vice against nature” provision that was seen as a ban on homos*xual relations. The UK Home Office has updated their Iran policies as a result of the recently resurfaced UN report from 2018.

It states that LGBT+ children in Iran report being subjected to physical and mental violence including “beatings and flogging as well as forms of psychological abuse such as enforced seclusion and isolation from friends and society, neglect and abandonment, verbal insults and death threats”.

Prosecutors in the Mauritania, where homos*xuality is outlawed, have detained and charged 10 young men after a video presented as a “gay marriage” surfaced, a legal source said on Tuesday.

A 22-year-old bis*xual woman who was detained for almost a month at a clinic in Chechnya, where she was beaten and tortured over her s*xuality and rejection of Islam, is calling on Russian authorities to initiate criminal proceedings against her tormentors.

Aminat Lorsanova filed a complaint with the Federal investigative Committee of Russia on Monday, calling for charges to be brought against a psychiatric clinic in the Chechen capital Grozny, where she was held for 25 days in August of 2018.

Lorsanova is also seeking the arrest of her parents, who she says facilitated the torture, and an unnamed man who tried to “expel evil spirits” while she was detained for four months at the Republican Psycho-Neurological Dispensary, also in the Chechen capital.

Lorsanova says the man was an acquaintance of her father.

“He was beating me with a stick in the solar plexus, pressing this area and below with his fingers. Which, moreover, would be covered in half by the police and the SBU. But nationalists in Ukraine are covered by security forces, and there has been plenty of evidence for this over the past years.

It is not easy to feel this difference when discussing the peculiarities of the perception of the LGBT community in Russia and Ukraine. Like, there are marches of equality, tolerance. The price of such tolerance and the essence of such a difference is very clearly explained by shaven-headed youths, sweeping a crowd from this community. The fact that yesterday they could lie in one trench and shoot at other wrong Ukrainians (wrong nationality and views, rather than orientation), only adds harmony to this picture.

The state is simply serving a number: if only it would report back to the parade once a year, and there even though the grass doesn’t grow - who, whom and for what is pounding on the gateways. And the citizens deceived by the picture then receive what is called a clash with reality.

This is hypocrisy, not tolerance. Where they kill for the Russian language or nationality, of course, they will beat for orientation. And this must be fought with by no means marches of equality."
