Planning is tough when you work by yourself but it’s even more difficult when you work with a client.

You need a space to keep tabs on campaigns, content and updates. These tools will make it easier and help you cut down on calls and emails.

Google Sheets
If you need to collaborate with clients or team members on a content plan Google Sheets makes it easy.

It’s a tool similar to Excel that creates spreadsheets online. You can give your clients read only access or give them editing privileges.

Use it for:

Content schedules
Make a list of content you need to create, add columns for each stage of the content process.
Google Documents
Google’s equivalent of Microsoft Word, like Google Sheets you can collaborate on a shared document. I found it spooky the first time I used it as you can see collaborators making edits in real time. Freaky.

Use it for:

Saving your social media updates before posting
If you find you are frantically creating social media updates on the go, you’ll find you make mistakes.

Using e-mails to reach your customers can be a great way to build and maintain business.
However, We don’t like receiving spam, so why send it?

Link building has become more of a marketing tactic than just an SEO tactic. That means we have to identify and research our audience before creating our “marketing” message.

Sending a generic, templated message to someone asking for a link is not going to get you great results.

Instead, send fewer emails, but take the time to research that person’s website and understand what would interest their users or customers.

Also, don’t use a general salutation, such as “Dear Webmaster” or “Dear Website Owner.” Use the person’s name

Take care when posting for your business activity. Having a written blog content strategy is what separates the good posts from the truly great ones.

You basically double your chance of success with a written post strategy. According to Content Marketing Institute, 60% of organizations with a written content strategy are effective, compared to only 32% of those with a purely verbal content strategy being effective.

Too often link building projects get hung up on “semantic” relevance and lose sight of being relevant to people. Textual relevance is important and I don’t wish to minimize that. However, taking a moment to consider a link in terms of the quality of traffic it might bring is another test of how strong that link may be.

That’s important because when Google talks about relevance it’s almost always in the context of being relevant to people. So if you’re judging links by how relevant they are to people, in my experience, the most relevant links are going to be those that are well matched to people who are likely to convert to customers.

Beat bigger businesses - Have you ever done a Google search like ‘coffee near me’, and taken a look at the search results? You will see three coffee shops recommended to you based on your current location and those three businesses that have appeared as a result of your search are a step closer to attracting a new customer.

Without an optimised Google My Business page, your business might not show for relevant searches and therefore, miss out on potential customers. The next step people take is to click on the business for more information and probably directions.

In the SEO arena of website architecture, there is little doubt that eliminating duplicate content can be one of the hardest fought battles.
Too many content management systems and poor developers build sites that work great for displaying content but have little consideration for how that content functions from a search-engine-friendly perspective.
And that often leaves damaging duplicate content dilemmas for the SEO to deal with.
There are two kinds of duplicate content, and both can be a problem:
Onsite duplication is when the same content is duplicated on two or more unique URLs of your site. Typically, this is something that can be controlled by the site admin and web development team.

Google published research that studied the effects of user generated content (UGC) spam on user experience. The research uncovered interesting insights on user experience and points the way to further research. They created a scale for measuring user experience called the HaBuT scale. HaBuT stands for Happiness, Burden and Trust.

They discovered an attribute they called Burden that encompasses offensive experience, annoying experience and irrelevant, inappropriate or spamminess of the experience. The study was conducted on 3,300 participants from three countries, India, South Korea and USA. There were 1,100 research participants from each country.

The goal was to identify which kind of UGC spam negatively affected the user experience the most. That way, a publisher could allocate resources to fighting the kind of UGC spam that created the most disturbance to the user experience.

3 Qualities of the Best SEO User
In search marketing there are many different ideas of how Google ranks sites. Who do you believe? Nobody can say they 100% know Google’s algorithm. But we can know 100% that some explanations of how Google ranks sites are more trustworthy than others. Some ideas are more true than others. What makes one idea more trustworthy is the evidence.

However, not all evidence is trustworthy. There are two poor and untrustworthy sources of evidence:

1. Anecdotal evidence

2. Correlation based evidence. Not only have Googlers stated that Google does not treat affiliate sites as lower quality, but there is no research papers or patents to show that Google had researched algorithms that “targeted” affiliate sites or any specific kinds of marketers other than spammers.

There was no factual evidence to support the anecdotal evidence. Factual evidence, in my opinion, is how to identify a flimsy opinion from an evidence based insight.

It doesn’t matter what your favorite SEO guru tells you about Google. It doesn’t matter if that Guru is ranked at the top of Google, that doesn’t prove anything. What matters is the factual evidence to support the idea.

Why Does A Great Image Arrest Attention?
Your image is your first call to action in your social posts. It’s the front door to your content, so it needs to make an impact.

It’s important to choose an image that expresses what you’re trying to say in your post. For example, Red Bull’s Instagram images inspire their followers to enjoy life and seek new adventures.
Good social images also stand out from the crowd and command attention in people’s news feeds. The image in this Coca-Cola post draws the audience’s attention with its use of vivid colors and an interesting pattern.
Your images should also be relevant to your target audience. In this Facebook post, Zappos uses an image that appeals to their audience: women who are fashion-conscious and love to buy shoes.
Before you start sharing your content on social media, you should choose a color that is synonymous with your brand. Your color choice not only represents your business but also impacts your followers on a psychological level.

Rob Russo’s visual branding stands out in his followers’ news feeds and draws attention to what he’s saying. That’s the strategy you want to apply to your visual marketing.
