DR. FATIMA MAADA BIO ROUNDS UP QATAR VISIT WITH MORE ENGAGEMENTS INCLUDING EXCLUSIVE MEETING WITH QATAR FUND

The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio has rounded up her ongoing visit to Qatar with more engagements today October 6th 2022.

Following her morning briefings with her competent Team of support staff, the distinguished First Lady headed to the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) where she held an important closed door meeting with Dr. Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari who is the Director General of QFFD.

The QFFD is a public development institution committed, on behalf of the State of Qatar, to implement external aid projects with a priority on issues of education, health and economic empowerment.

Following the closed door meeting at QFFD, H.E. First Lady Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio headed straight to the Multaqa; venue for the closing ceremony of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH).

The Closing Ceremony of the successful WISH event was colourful and brilliant with the distinguished and globally acclaimed Sierra Leone First Lady prominently recognised.

The Queen of Qatar, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned, together with the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino flanked the Sierra Leone First Lady on the front row as the VVIPs watched the edifying proceedings.

H.E. Dr. Mrs. Maada Bio and her delegation are expected to depart Qatar for Sierra Leone soon after days of several successful engagements which commenced with her arrival in Qatar on 2nd October 2022.

H.E. Mrs. Maada Bio will arrive in Sierra Leone over the weekend after this very successful trip that was primarily funded by the Royal Family of Qatar.

The Office of the First Lady will continue to keep the public informed on the activities of H.E. Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio.

Former President Koroma Signs Book Of Condolence

Sierra Leone's former President H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma, has on Wednesday September 14, 2022, signed the Book of Condolence in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The former president drove from his hometown of Makeni this morning to pay his last respects to what he calls the illustrious era of a Sovereign who taught the world the true meaning of leading with humility, grace and dignity.

"An illustrious era has come to an end, but it ushers in yet another with great prospects. So as we mourn her passing, we celebrate the extraordinary life of a Queen who taught the world the true meaning of leading with humility, grace and dignity," former President Koroma said.

The statesman further notes that the late Queen "inspired, influenced and moulded millions not because of the power she wielded, but because of her thoughtfulness, diligence and dedication to duty."

Recalling his personal interactions with the Queen, Sierra Leone's former president said: "In my interaction with her, I was astounded by how down-to-earth she was, struck by the depth of her knowledge about world affairs, and inspired by how much she cared for political leaders to do well in serving their people."

And he shared these poignant parting words:

"She was not just a Queen, she was a caring mother-figure who wanted the best for everyone. The world, the Commonwealth, the United Kingdom, and her dear family would miss a great sovereign and an extraordinary matriarch. I extend my profound condolences to her family, the government and people of the United Kindom. May the Lord receive her soul in the highest of the heavens!

Sierra Leone defender, Yemi Dunia has joined Montenegro second tier side, FK Bokelj Kotor on a 1-year contact for an undisclosed fee.
According to Radio Televizija Crne Gore, the former Bo Rangers defender completed his move to the Montenegrin professional football club based in the coastal town of Kotor. They currently compete in the Montenegrin Second League.

The deal is United Africa Wear’s first major move into sports partnership in Sierra Leone and it will run for two seasons starting with the 2022/23 premier league season.

Musa Tombo was left out of the Al Ittihad squad that travel to Tanzania for the CAF Champions League match against Flambeau du Centre.

Speaking to Mags Tribune Sports from Libya, it was revealed that Musa was supposed to travel with the team today to Tanzania for the African competition, but he did not attend training since he arrived in Libya tired.

But next Tuesday he will go to Egypt for two weeks of preparation.
