A record number of Black and Brown womxn are running for office in Omaha, Nebraska. Naomi Hattaway, Cammy Watkins, and Jasmine Harris are three of those Black womxn. Listen to them talk candidly about the challenges they face, their history-making campaigns, and the importance of their perspectives. You don’t want to miss this one!

There’s been so many times where I was told that I didn’t belong. I was one of the first women to attend Virginia Military Institute, surrounded by men, fighting to succeed. When I first ran for office, pregnant with twins, I was told “you need to have a seat.” But I made space for myself every time.

in ALL spaces. We especially belong in spaces where we can lead. Thank you for starting this challenge!

In the wake of all of the ugliness and harassment surrounding Black women, it’s important to remind everyone, and yourself, that Black women are multifaceted, strong, and powerful people, who deserve respect and autonomy.

To celebrate all of the places and spaces that , & are challenging YOU to share pictures, video, or other creative content of you taking up space and simply existing, because you deserve to.

This week, Jeria and Jadah are together again to discuss the importance of protecting Black Women and how we fight for our own survival, not to save white people from themselves. BGPP is encouraging our listeners this week to donate to 50 Miles More. 50 Miles More is a black, youth-led, Wisconsin based organization focused on liberation through radical black feminism. We often talk about giving people their flowers while they’re still here. This month, 50 miles more will be sending black people flowers all month long. The number of flowers they’re able to send is dependent on funds, so donate to $50MilesMore on Cashapp.

Vel R. Phillips was the first black woman to:

-Graduate from UW-Madison Law School
-Be elected to Milwaukee City Council
-Become the Secretary of State of Wisconsin
-Serve as a Jurist in Wisconsin

*Republicans are using the deficit as an excuse to prevent a huge Democratic-led COVID relief bill giving everyone $2k reoccurring checks from reaching those in need. You’ll never hear a Republican politician tell you which part of relief package they dislike because ALL of it is necessary to get Americans in both Red and Blue states back above water. We need bold, progressive solutions and deficit hawk Republicans ain’t got it.

“We are facing multiple crises that demand bold, progressive solutions.

Now is not the time to worry about deficits.” -
