On the early morning of January 15, 1947, a mother taking her child for a walk in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, stumbled upon a deeply disturbing sight: the body of a young, naked woman, cut cleanly in half at the waist.

The badly mutilated body was lying just a few feet from the sidewalk and was posed in such a way that passersby reportedly thought it was a mannequin.

The victim turned out to be a 22-year-old aspiring actress Elizabeth Short, dubbed by the media as the Black Dahlia for her rumored penchant for sheer black clothes.

Injuries on Kevin Bright’s face following a near-fatal standoff with the BTK killer.

On the afternoon of April 4, 1974, Dennis Rader broke into the home of his fifth intended victim, Kathryn Bright, through a screen door and hid in her bedroom.
When Kathryn returned, BTK was stunned to find that she was not alone—her 19-year-old brother, Kevin Bright, was with her.

Despite being outnumbered, BTK confronted them, brandishing a firearm. He claimed to be a fugitive in need of a vehicle, food, and money, then coerced the siblings into the bedroom, where he instructed Kevin to tie his 21-year-old sister to a chair.

Rader then attempted to strangle Kathryn before stabbing her three times in the back and lower abdomen with a knife when she struggled too much.

Despite fighting off Rader twice and being shot in the head three times, Bright's brother managed to flee the house through a side door and flagged down a neighbor.

After emergency surgery, Kevin Bright survived. His sister, Kathryn, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Behind the Tape Photobook features 20 disturbing photographs of BTK’s self-bo***ge sessions, 18 GRAPHIC photos documenting BTK’s reign of terror, as well as over a thousand more hand-picked crime scene photos.

The dead body of rapper Notorious B.I.G. lying on a gurney at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

On March 9, 1997, Christopher Wallace, known as the Notorious B.I.G., was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

After attending a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Wallace's vehicle stopped at a red light when a black Chevrolet Impala pulled alongside. The driver fired multiple shots, four of which struck Wallace.

Despite being rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.

An autopsy later revealed that the fatal bullet entered through his right hip, damaging vital organs before resting in his left shoulder.

Wallace's death has been the subject of numerous theories and investigations.

One prominent theory suggests that Marion "Suge" Knight, head of Death Row Records, orchestrated the murder in retaliation for the killing of Tupac Shakur.

Retired FBI agent Phil Carson claimed that the hit was carried out by Amir Muhammad, with assistance from corrupt Los Angeles police officers. Carson described the alleged cover-up as "the biggest miscarriage of justice" in his career.

However, this theory has faced challenges. In 2005, an informant known as "Psycho Mike" recanted his earlier statements implicating Knight and LAPD officers, admitting his claims were based on hearsay and describing himself as a paranoid schizophrenic.

Adding to the intrigue, a 2025 documentary titled "Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy" explores allegations that Sean "Diddy" Combs, Wallace's mentor, may have been involved in the murder.

Former bodyguard Gene Deal recounted suspicious behavior by Combs leading up to the event, including attending a party the night of the shooting against advisement.

Combs has consistently denied any involvement, and his legal team condemns the documentary for promoting baseless conspiracy theories.

07/02/2025

During his three-year stint in prison, the infamous cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer became known for his twisted sense of humor.

“If he saw a guard that was nervous and standing near enough to hear him, he would say, ‘I bite.’ Usually, the guard would jump away and that would make Jeff laugh,” former minister Roy Ratcliff recalled.

Ratcliff also said Dahmer had put up a sign on the wall of his cell that read, “Cannibals Anonymous Meeting Tonight.”

Little did Dahmer expect that his morbid humor would cost him his life.

On November 28, 1994, while cleaning the prison gymnasium toilet, convicted murderer Christopher Scarver bludgeoned the cannibal with a 20-inch metal bar. He then proceeded to beat another inmate, Jesse Anderson, who was assigned to work with the pair, with a wooden stick.

Although Scarver initially claimed that God told him to murder Dahmer and Anderson, in an interview with the New York Post in 2015, the convict changed his story.

Scarver told the reporters that he grew to despise Dahmer because the cannibal would fashion severed limbs out of prison food to taunt other inmates.

On the morning of the attack, Scarver grabbed a metal bar from the weight room and decided to confront Dahmer about his crimes.

Scarver told the reporters that the prison guards knew he hated Dahmer and intentionally assigned him to work with the madman.

“They had something to do with what took place. Yes,” said Scarver, noting that the guards disappeared just before he bludgeoned Dahmer with the 20-inch, 5-pound metal bar.

Behind the Tape Photobook features more than a thousand hand-picked crime scene photos, including 10 UNCENSORED Polaroids taken by Dahmer, 34 spine-chilling photographs taken inside Dahmer’s apartment, as well as 10 GRAPHIC photographs documenting his prison murder.

An eerie look inside Dennis Rader’s “mother lode.”

During his 32-hour confession, Rader revealed the locations of his “stashes” containing artifacts taken and used during the murders, paraphernalia from his bo***ge sessions, as well as his “fantasy cards.”

Rader referred to one of these stashes as the “mother lode.” Located in an office space in the City Hall, the two-drawer metal cabinet contained an extensive collection of sketches, drawings, Polaroid photos of Rader dressed in the victims’ clothing, and all of his communications, which he used to fantasize about his activities.

The so-called “mother lode” provided the most compelling evidence against him. Investigators discovered hundreds of pictures from magazines and catalogs mounted on index cards (Rader referred to these as “flash cards” that he would use to stimulate himself), with details of the warped fantasies that Rader dreamed of carrying out, as well as books on serial killers. Rader had collected and maintained an extensive collection of Barbie-style dolls that he would pose in sexual positions.

The “mother lode” also contained a newspaper clipping about the arrest of David Parker Ray. Apparently, BTK admired Ray’s work and might have taken inspiration from the Toy-Box Killer.

Both the BTK and the Toy-Box Killer used anatomically correct dolls to enhance their fantasies and both drew perverse drawings of torture, r**e, and murder to become sexually aroused when not participating in the actual events.

The detectives also recovered Rader’s so-called “hit kits,” which consisted of bags with rubber gloves, rope, tape, handcuffs, and bandanas.

The only photograph of Adolf Hi**er's dead body, taken by his personal doctor Dr. Ludwig Stumpfegger.

On April 30, 1945, as Soviet forces closed in on Berlin, Adolf Hi**er and his wife, Eva Braun, committed su***de in the Führerbunker. Hi**er died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while Eva Braun ingested cyanide. Their bodies were carried out of the bunker, doused with petrol, and set on fire to prevent any display of their remains.

Dr. Stumpfegger, who was present during the su***des, took the photograph of Hi**er's body. The image remained classified within Soviet archives for nearly two decades.

In 1964, it was published in a German Democratic Republic (GDR) weekly, providing the world with a rare glimpse of the dictator's remains.

The photograph has been the subject of extensive analysis and discussion. Some historians have questioned its authenticity, suggesting it could be a staged image or a photograph of a body double.

However, forensic examinations, including dental analysis, have confirmed the remains as those of Hi**er.

President John F. Kennedy lies on a mortuary slab after being assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

Following the shooting, President Kennedy was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Despite the valiant efforts of the medical team, he was pronounced dead at 1:00 PM CST.

His body was then transported to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland for an autopsy, as per the wishes of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, who selected the naval hospital due to her husband's service during World War II.

The autopsy, conducted by naval commanders James Humes and J. Thornton Boswell, with assistance from ballistics expert Pierre A. Finck, revealed two gunshot wounds.

The first entered Kennedy's upper back and exited below his neck, while the second struck the back of his head, exiting through the front of his skull, causing extensive damage to the brain.

The trajectory of the latter bullet was marked by bullet fragments throughout his brain. The former bullet was not found during the autopsy but was discovered at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

It later became the subject of the Warren Commission's single-bullet theory, often derided as the "magic-bullet theory" by conspiracy theorists.

The Warren Commission, established to investigate the assassination, concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the shooting.

However, the findings have been subject to scrutiny and debate, leading to various conspiracy theories. Subsequent investigations, including the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1979, have examined the evidence, with some suggesting the possibility of a conspiracy.

Despite these inquiries, the official stance remains that Oswald was the sole assassin.

Two weeks after killing her two-year-old daughter Caylee, Casey Anthony paid a tattoo artist $65 to decorate her left shoulder blade with the words “Bella Vita,” Italian for “the beautiful life”.

The tattoo became a focal point of Anthony’s trial. Although the defense argued that the tattoo was Anthony’s way of commemorating her daughter, prosecutors told the jury that Anthony’s bar-hopping and tattoo signified that she was not looking for her daughter but was living the “Bella Vita” without being saddled with a toddler.

However, in last year’s docuseries, Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies, Casey offered a new explanation why she got the controversial piece.

"Bella Vita, that was my f**k you to my family. I spent my entire life protecting our perfect, beautiful little family and acting like I had this enviable life," explained Casey, who, in the docuseries, accused her father and brother of sexually abusing her as a child.

“That was a subconscious way for me to speak out against all of it. My family. My flawed and f**ked up family. And my flawed and f**ked up life."

"It was the antithesis of what my life really was," she said of the tattoo, which she has since covered up.

Anthony also showed off another tattoo on the inside of her arm which translates to, "I hear your voice in all the sounds [or noise] of the world." She added, "it means I hear you in everything. That is my Caylee tribute tattoo. Everything about her was perfect."

One of the lesser-seen Polaroids taken by Jeffrey Dahmer.

On the night of Dahmer's arrest, officers stumbled upon an open dresser with nearly 80 Polaroid pictures of dismembered human bodies.

During his confessions, Dahmer told the police he would pose his dead victims and their body parts and then photograph them with a Polaroid camera.

He would ma******te to the heads and body parts as he recalled the murders and fantasized about the actual event.

In addition to 74 Polaroids, Milwaukee police found five severed heads, seven skulls (including some that were painted or bleached), and a tray of blood drippings inside a refrigerator.

After his arrest in 2002, "The Pig Farmer Killer," Robert Pickton, was placed in a jail cell with an undercover police officer.

In a videotaped interaction, the unsuspecting Pickton began confessing to the murders that had taken place on his farm, saying he was disappointed that he had killed only forty-nine women and did not "make the big five-O."

Pickton claimed he was caught because he was "sloppy."

Once the undercover officer was withdrawn from the cell, Pickton stripped naked and began to ma******te, despite being told that there was a security camera on the ceiling.

While searching Pickton's farm, investigators found several illegal and unregistered guns, as well as items linking missing women to the property, such as clothing, shoes, jewelry, and an asthma inhaler prescribed to one of the victims.

The blood of another missing woman, Mona Wilson, was found in a motorhome on the farm.

On December 9, 2007, Pickton was found guilty of six murders and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years.

Although the Pig Farmer Killer claimed to have killed 49 women, he was charged with the murders of only 26, who were identified through evidence found on his farm.

An emotional look back at the Oklahoma City Bombing.

On April 19, 1995, at 9:02 a.m., Timothy McVeigh detonated a truck bomb outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The explosion killed 168 people, including 19 children, and injured over 600 others.

McVeigh, a U.S. Army veteran, orchestrated the attack as retaliation against the federal government, citing the 1993 Waco siege and the 1992 Ruby Ridge incident as motivations. McVeigh rented a Ryder truck, loaded it with approximately 7,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, nitromethane, and diesel fuel, and parked it outside the Murrah Building. The blast destroyed a third of the building and caused extensive damage to nearby structures.

In the aftermath, the community and nation united to support the victims and their families. The Oklahoma City National Memorial was established to honor the 168 individuals who lost their lives, including 19 children, and the hundreds who were injured. Dedicated on April 19, 2000, the memorial features the Reflecting Pool, the Field of Empty Chairs, and the Survivor Tree, symbolizing resilience and hope.

The bombing also led to significant changes in U.S. domestic policy. The Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 was enacted to enhance penalties for terrorism-related crimes and improve law enforcement's ability to combat terrorism. The bombing also prompted increased security measures in federal buildings and a reevaluation of domestic terrorism threats.

Edward J. O'Hare slumped at the wheel of his car after being shot by two unidentified gunmen.

O'Hare, known as "Easy Eddie," was a prominent lawyer and businessman in Chicago during the 1920s and 1930s. Easy Eddie collaborated with Al Capone by managing dog racing tracks and other ventures, contributing to Capone's illicit empire.

However, in the early 1930s, O'Hare had a change of heart.

Concerned about the legacy he would leave for his son, Edward "Butch" O'Hare, he decided to assist federal authorities in their efforts to convict Capone.

O'Hare became an informant for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), providing crucial information that helped agents build a tax evasion case against Capone.

His cooperation was instrumental in securing Capone's conviction in 1931, leading to an 11-year prison sentence.

O'Hare's betrayal of Capone made him a marked man.

On November 8, 1939, just days before Capone's scheduled release from prison, O'Hare was driving his Lincoln-Zephyr coupe in Chicago when two gunmen in a passing car opened fire with shotguns, killing him instantly.

The timing and method of the assassination strongly suggested it was a retaliatory act orchestrated by Capone's associates, seeking vengeance for O'Hare's role in their leader's imprisonment.

Despite the violent end to his life, O'Hare's legacy took a heroic turn through his son, Butch O'Hare.

Following in his father's footsteps of bravery, Butch became a celebrated naval aviator during World War II, earning the Medal of Honor for his actions.

Today, Chicago's O'Hare International Airport stands as a testament to the complex legacy of the O'Hare family, symbolizing both the city's tumultuous past and its aspirations for redemption.

The preserved head of Fritz Haarmann, the Vampire of Hanover.

Between 1918 and 1924, Haarmann brutally murdered at least 24 young men and boys. His modus operandi involved luring his victims—often runaways or vagrants—to his residence, where he would sexually assault, murder, and dismember them. Haarmann's preferred method of killing was biting through his victims' throats, earning him his vampiric moniker.

Following his arrest in June 1924, Haarmann was tried and found guilty of 24 murders. He was sentenced to death and executed by guillotine on April 15, 1925.

In a macabre turn, his severed head was preserved in formaldehyde for scientific study and remained at the Göttingen Medical School for nearly nine decades.

In 2014, the head was finally cremated, closing a grim chapter in forensic history.

Police question the survivors who were shot while attempting to protect a Korean-owned pizza parlor in Koreatown during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

18-year-old Korean American Edward Song Lee and three other individuals were mistakenly shot by Korean shopkeepers who believed they were looters.

The Los Angeles riots began on April 29, 1992, following the acquittal of four police officers charged with the excessive use of force in the arrest and beating of African American motorist Rodney King. The incident had been captured on videotape and widely broadcast, leading to public outrage.

In the aftermath of the verdict, violence, looting, and arson spread across Los Angeles, particularly affecting South Central Los Angeles, Koreatown, and other neighborhoods.

Many Korean Americans took up arms to defend their businesses, leading to incidents in which individuals were mistakenly identified as looters and shot.

In the midst of the riots, on May 1, 1992, Rodney King made a television appearance pleading for an end to the violence:

"I just want to say—you know—can we, can we all get along? Can we, can we get along? Can we stop making it horrible for the older people and the kids? And... I mean, we've got enough smog in Los Angeles, let alone to deal with setting these fires and things... It's just not right. It's not right, and it's not going to change anything. We'll get our justice. They've won the battle, but they haven't won the war. We'll get our day in court, and that's all we want."

This emotional appeal resonated with many and contributed to the de-escalation of violence.

By May 3, 1992, the citywide curfew was lifted, and Mayor Tom Bradley announced that the crisis was over. Schools, banks, and businesses reopened, signaling a return to normalcy.

A look inside Ted Bundy's VW Beetle.

Bundy removed the passenger seat to more easily transport his victims without obstruction.

The absence of the seat allowed him to subdue and conceal unconscious or restrained women, making it easier to maneuver them into the vehicle after luring or attacking them.

Bundy also disabled the interior door handle on the passenger side to prevent escape attempts.

Authorities discovered critical evidence in the car, including hair fibers from several of his victims, as well as tools like an ice pick, a crowbar, handcuffs, and plastic bags—all of which were used in his crimes.

Bundy's 1968 Volkswagen Beetle is currently on display at the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The Alcatraz East Crime Museum is a 24,000-square-foot, two-story facility designed to resemble a 19th-century prison, inspired by the infamous Alcatraz Island prison in San Francisco.

The museum features interactive displays and artifacts covering topics such as criminal intent, criminal profiles, the penal system, victims' stories, law enforcement, crime prevention, forensic science, and the U.S. justice system.

Visitors can explore a wide array of exhibits, ranging from infamous criminals to the evolution of investigative techniques.

Alongside Bundy's Beetle, the museum houses other notorious artifacts, such as O.J. Simpson's white Bronco, which was involved in the infamous slow-speed chase, and items from the lives of notorious mobsters like Al Capone.

The museum is organized into themed galleries, each focusing on different aspects of crime and punishment.

Exhibits on forensic science allow visitors to engage in interactive displays demonstrating fingerprint analysis, DNA testing, and crime scene investigation techniques.

The museum also features memorabilia from famous heists, stories of counterfeit operations, and artifacts related to the Prohibition era.

02/02/2025

On March 31, 1922, six individuals were brutally murdered at a secluded Bavarian farmstead approximately 70 kilometers north of Munich, Germany.

In the days leading up to the tragedy, one of the victims, Andreas Gruber, discovered unfamiliar footprints in the snow leading to the farm—but none departing. He also found a newspaper he hadn't purchased and noticed that one of the house keys was missing. Strangely, he wasn’t the only person to notice weird occurrences.

A previous maid had resigned six months earlier, citing strange noises in the attic and a pervasive feeling of being watched.

Following the murders, the assailant appeared to have remained on the property for several days. Neighbors observed smoke rising from the chimney, and the livestock had been recently fed. This suggested that the killer was familiar with farm life and possibly had a personal connection to the victims.

The investigation faced numerous challenges. The crime scene was compromised by curious neighbors, and despite extensive inquiries, no definitive suspect was identified.

Over the years, various theories have emerged, including potential involvement by vagrants, a former lover of Viktoria Gabriel, or even a family member presumed dead.

However, none of these theories have ever been conclusively proven.

The Hinterkaifeck farm was demolished in 1923, a year after the murders.

During its demolition, a mattock believed to be the murder weapon was discovered in the attic, along with a penknife in the barn.

Despite these findings, the case remains unsolved, continuing to captivate and perplex those interested in true crime and unsolved mysteries.
