Assalamualaikum everyone!

On this episode, we have Wasiq Javed. He is a community organizer, spoken word artist, and political activist based in Texas. We discuss the ongoing case of Imam Jamil al-Amin (formerly known as H. Rap Brown), whose revolutionary story is one that is needed for the current discourse surrounding the rights of communities and individuals in this nation. He is a civil rights leader and humanitarian that was on track to lead his community until he was wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he did not commit in 2002. Wasiq is engaged in efforts to advocate for him and see that his story is heard.
We also discuss the role of social activism for the American ummah and the context of its relevance today.

"Born and raised in Houston, Texas to Pakistani immigrants, Wasiq is passionate about increasing Muslim involvement in public service and civic engagement to add a growing voice to the American civic and political discourse. He has previously organized campaigns, protests, and education events across numerous social issues and founded a youth civic-engagement organization at his high school, Lakes for Lives, and Students for Imam Jamil, a national advocacy campaign to help free a wrongfully imprisoned civil rights leader."

Hope you guys enjoy and benefit from the conversation inshaAllah!

On this week's episode, we have fellow podcaster Tanzim Alam from one of Australia's top podcasts Boys in the Cave! I've been a long-time fan of their show for a while now and this was a really enjoyable episode to record. We discuss different elements of philosophy and creed, the diaspora ummah, and using certain lenses from our tradition to dive deep into our inner realities (the temperaments, etc).

Salam guys! Apologies for the break the past few weeks, but we're back with another episode!

This week, we have on Faizan Habibi from Masjid Parking Lot! In their words, "MPL is a group of friends trying to change the world one conversation at a time! It's a way for us to create our own narrative, humanize Muslims, and unapologetically be ourselves. Essentially, it is a podcast for humans by humans."

This was definitely one of the most natural episodes I've done so far, just because of what we were discussing and how amazing the chemistry was between two podcast hosts. We talked about working as a team, tiktok and audiences misconstruing your words, and a whole bunch of ways to successfully run a podcast.

Hope you all enjoy!

On this week's episode, we discuss the situation going on in Palestine. We go through the nature of these current targeted attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza, the response from the international community, and other aspects of the situation such as: Is Palestine a Muslim issue? Are other movements supporting a or have they been silent?

Huge thank you to Hebh Jamal for sitting with me and unpacking a lot regarding what's going on right now. InshaAllah we can all benefit and continue in this fight for justice.

We have on a New York local in this episode, Imam Hassan Akbar!
"His Islamic education began at an early age at the feet of his later father, Imam Abdullah Akbar. His father was the first native Imam in the island of Jamaica and held that position for 17 years before moving to America. Imam Hassan "has a B.S. and M.A. in Islamic Studies and certification in Islamic Inheritance from The Islamic University of Arees.
