Thank you all for joining us here on the Rush Podcast page. We love this community.

As you know, the Rush Podcast is a one-year audio devotional which helps us engage with the Holy Spirit twice a week. It is a time for us to dig in deeper together and have an open discussion. It truly is a highlight of our week.

While our Rush Podcast community is growing, we are wanting to bring our communities together. That said, we will no longer be posting on the Rush Podcast page rather on Wire - Devotional for Men and Loop - Devotional for Women. Do you remember Jesus’ parable about a house built on a strong foundation?

At the end of his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus urges the people gathered then (and us) to live by His teaching, by the truth of God, over all else.

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.

“But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”

- Matthew 7: 24-27, The Message

Let’s spend some moments with God, turning to Him, letting Him be our teacher, letting Him help us to mature and grow. Let’s ask Him to teach us more about the foundations in our lives.

"Father, help me to hear your voice. I consecrate to you my heart, my mind, my imagination now. I know that, in your voice, there will be no condemnation. But, I also know that will guide me. So, guide me. Show me where I need to trust you more. Show me where and how I build my life on the strong foundation of your truth and goodness and love. You have full permission to originate thoughts in my mind. Give me words or pictures or songs. I am listening.

I confess, I often think I know enough, and I try to go it alone. But I want to change. Help me change my mind. I want to be your son, your daughter, with a soft, teachable heart. I want to listen for your voice in everything I do, everywhere I go. You, and only You, will keep me on track. So, I want to rely on You more. I want to rely on You most."

We invite you to write this prayer down and continue to reflect on it as you go about your week. Think about the foundation you have built and are building in your relationship with Jesus.

Picture Him saying this to you...

“Rely upon Me for wisdom, rely upon Me for hope. Look to Me, listen for Me, trust in Me, wait on Me . . and then take action . . . Practice turning to Me, in all moments, for all things. Cling to my hand. Let Me be your teacher. There are many things I want to show you. Many things to help you mature and grow.”

He knows your pain...

He knows what it feels like to stand alone, to be misunderstood.
He knows you feel impatient--eager, desperate, for things to change.

Your life feels complicated.
You try to take one day at a time and yet the years tumble by, one after another.

Sound familiar?

How do to keep stepping forward, keep believing things will be different...someday...when you want that day to be today, yesterday, right now?

Here's Holy Spirits encouragement for you...

"Stay steadfast. Be encouraged. Let Me be your strong foundation. Things are not necessarily falling apart around you. Yes, things will fall if the solid foundation is not there. So build a strong foundation. Rely upon Me for wisdom, rely upon Me for hope. Look to Me, listen for Me, trust in Me, wait on Me . . and then take action. I will not ask you do to anything that is not founded on love. For I am love. So if you have an idea--something you want to do--and it isn’t founded on love? Pause. Reconsider. Ask Me again. And don’t do it--if the idea isn’t founded on love, if it isn’t an idea from me. Practice turning to Me, in all moments, for all things. Cling to my hand. Let Me be your teacher. There are many things I want to show you. Many things to help you mature and grow.

It is not so complicated to follow Me, although the world wants to make you believe so. Yes, there are many heartaches, many struggles. Yes, there are many disasters, much injustice. There is much suffering; there is much pain. But to follow Me always and only requires that you let go.

To follow Me means trusting Me.

To follow Me means trying to love, trying to persevere, trying to trust, trying to believe I know more than you do...about everything...and that I want to help you grow, strengthen, mature, into the person I’ve always dreamed you to be."

How do we take this instruction from Holy Spirit and apply it to our lives?
How do you trust Him?
Do you trust Him?

Engage with this community by sharing where you are at right now. Let's commit to pray and encourage each other as we step out in vulnerability.

When you make God your strong foundation, you discover stability the world can’t provide—no matter how much money, s*x, or fame you get. Learn how to trust God with every step you take.

Jesus, who stood face to face with God, left Heaven because of YOU.

You were worth it.

He came because He loves us and didn’t want us to be away from Him; He didn’t want us to be away from God. He came because His life creates and radiates light. And, with His life and light, He could defeat death and darkness for us. And He did.

Holy Spirit said, “This is what I want to tell you: if you get to know me now, when times are less tumultuous, if you let me show you things that will deepen your faith, deepen your relationship with me, you will have greater comfort in the storm. You will know to look for me; you will know where I stand. You will know how I care for you. You will know how I do not waver in my love for you. Fear will not overwhelm you. For you will be connected to me—through your love for me. For although my love doesn’t change, your ability to receive my love does change. And you can ask me to develop and increase that ability in you. And you should, because My love in you—all that love from me—strengthens you and helps you keep your eyes on hope.”

Let’s open our hearts and our minds to Jesus right now, for a moment.

Let’s take this opportunity to ask Him how He would like us to connect with Him in this season.

Let’s turn to Him and ask...

What’s one thing we can do, in this season, to get to know Him more and deepen our faith?
..

What came to mind?
What did you hear?
Whatever it was, will you commit to doing it?

Jesus would never suggest something that would be too heavy to bear, too hard to fit into your schedule. So, will you make it a priority and commit to fitting it in?

Take a moment to reflect on the question above. We also invite you to dive deeper by listening to the episode, "How to Deepen Your Relationship With God in the Storms".

How to Stand in Your Storms

God is your shelter.
Here. Now.
You need not be afraid.

If you find yourself in a storm, full of discouragement, lack of hope, quiet your heart and meditate on these words from Holy Spirit...

“This is what I want to tell you: if you get to know me now, when times are less tumultuous, if you let me show you things that will deepen your faith, deepen your relationship with me, you will have greater comfort in the storm. And you should, because My love in you—all that love from me—strengthens you and helps you keep your eyes on hope.

I am your shelter. I am your rock. I am your rope that never breaks. I am your friend that never leaves. One day, when the celebration begins, when the music for the wedding feast begins playing, when the heavens declare the glory of my name and the earth has no more suffering, when dark days are in the past, you will see this life now as a blink of your eye, a ray of light passing in the sky. I know these days are hard. I know how it feels like things will never change. I know you hurt. And I know you are tired.

But I stand. I stand with you now and always. I will not turn away from you. I know every trouble. I count every tear. You are stronger than you know, for you are mine. You are braver than you know, for you are chosen. You are more resilient than you believe, for you have My love in you. The kind of love that stands. The kind of love that perseveres. The kind of love that equips you to declare,

‘Yes, Yes, this day is the one when your Love comes.
For my God stands. He stands. He stands with me.’”

Let’s get rid of those chains that bind us to the earth…

Let's pay attention to our words.
They are powerful.

Even the right words become flattery and manipulation if they come from a duplicitous heart—and they have a malign effect.

Let’s begin changing the way we speak, shall we? First, let’s take a look at how we speak to God...

Let's speak to Him from our heart, not our mind.
Let's not use empty words.
Let's not use words to rationalize or justify our sin.

Doing that distances us from Him. We never have to hide who we are from Him. We don’t have to lie. We don’t have to pretend.

He sees us. He sees our hearts, and HE LOVES YOU, and He loves me.

He sees the true you. He sees you in your glory, your beauty. He sees you without the cover-up.

Do you want to live as that true self?
Walking in the new life of freedom and love that He gives you?

It has a cost.
It costs you your pride.

You’ll have to face Him, and face the sting of confession. You’ll have to expose your sin, all of it, all your secrets, all your fears. And when there is nothing left to hide, when you’ve given all, you can receive all. When you’ve done that, you can receive the healing and joy and peace you crave. You can receive freedom. Freedom from shame—the kind of freedom you believe doesn’t exist.

He has so much He wants to give you, but He can’t as long as you hold onto your old life, with your old, duplicitous ways.

So, give them to Him.
Trust Him.
He is good.
You can trust Him.

Let’s get rid of those chains that bind us to the earth.
He made you to be free, but the cost of freedom is a willingness to feel. It’s the courage to endure the pain of an ego bruised, of pride crushed. Will you endure that? For something much better? For life much bigger?

Comment 🙌 🙌 🙌 if you're ready to step into full freedom...

The easiest way Satan pulls you into lying is by getting you to doubt God’s goodness. He gets us to lie to others by leading us to believe that God lied to us! Find out how to stop this duplicitous trend.

How to appreciate and live in the Trinity's love…

God, three in one—Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit. He—they—epitomize community. Rich, complete, connection. Nothing is missing. They are never lonely. Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit each uniquely themselves and each uniquely One and the same. There is no enmity between them. There is no resentment. There is no competition. There is no one-upmanship. There is no indifference. There is joy. There is unity. And there is love. He is Love, and they enjoy perfect love. The very kind of love we dream about and long for.

And just now—and always—they invited us into that kind of community, into their tight knit, perfect community. They want us to be in relationship with them, too. It’s not just for them. That kind of connection. That kind of perfect love is available to us too...if we want it.

“You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me.” - John 17:23

God’s love for you is immense. It’s as mind-boggling as the love He has for Jesus. And what’s more, God knowingly, willingly, intentionally sent His beloved boy to suffer horribly, physically, to take on all the sins of the world, and to die . . . for you. Because He loves you that much. He sent His beloved son, sacrificially, so that neither of them would have to spend one minute of eternity (or one more minute of this life) without you. And that’s not all, he loves you so much, He even put His spirit inside you—to live inside your very being.

Join us in praying this prayer as a first step in learning how to appreciate and live in the Trinity’s love...

Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit . . . show me the way to go home. I get so distracted by the world. My heart hardens. My mind gets confused. I lose my way. So, I need a guide. I need You to be my guide. I need You to show me the way toward love. Toward safety. Toward goodness. Toward light. Toward the place where people adore me, accept me, heal me, encourage me and empower me, to be me. Show me the way to go home.

How Do I Feel At Home with God?

God tells us that everything comes from Him. All love. All joy, all goodness, all kindness. All true satisfaction and contentment. The Trinity are perfectly satisfied and content together—and they are filled with love for us. The Three love being together, and, because they love us, they want us to experience community with us, too.

No, the Trinity are not alone. Never alone. They enjoy one another’s company. They love to laugh, to seek each other’s joy. And in this joy, they pursue us. Love pursues us. The Trinity abounds in love for us. Their delight is in us. There is not one thing God wouldn’t give us. All His love. All His heart. God wants to give and give and give.

So you are thinking now...What do I do with this? Is it true? So much love? So much love for me? If it is true, how do I access it? How do I come home? Well, the Trinity, God, who resides in you, are our home. Their love is your home.

But to experience this Home, there is something we might need to do.

We’re going to have to let God remove the blinders from our eyes—the blinders from our heart.

God looks at us and says, oh, you are good. There is so much goodness in you. You are exquisite, our beloved one. Come. Come now, let us show you what it is that we know, what it is that we feel, what it is that we see.

As God speak to us now, He want His words to be more than words. But they can’t—not unless we let them into our heart. God—the Trinity—are in each other’s hearts. They are each other’s joy and peace. They are fully satisfied in their love for one another. With them, there is not one thing missing. They are complete with one another. And this completeness is available to us too. For we are invited into this space, this room, this place of belonging. For we are made to belong here. We are made to be home, with God. With Jeus and Holy Spirit too.

What blinders is God asking you to remove from your heart? What might be preventing you from receiving His love from you right now? Tell us in the comments and we will join you in praying!

We all have things in our lives that can stress us out and cause us to fear. But did you know that God longs to speak to those scary situations in our lives?

Many of us probably feel like we have to bang on heaven’s door to get God to answer. But this simply isn’t true. Your heavenly Father is eager to respond and speak life to you. Are you listening?

Sadly, sometimes when we pray, we close our ears before we even hear a response. Why? Because, secretly, we’re afraid of what God might say. We’re worried he won’t say what we want to hear.

While it’s true God won’t always tell us what we want to hear, we can always trust that he’ll speak to us out of the overflow of his love. He will always speak what is good over us, even in times of correction.

Today, we invite you to listen as you pray. When you present what you’re worried about to God, don’t rush into the next request. Pause. Breathe. Give God room to speak to that situation. It might not be with words; it might be simply a feeling of peace. But he will speak as your heart is humble. God promises us that even though he opposes the proud, he gives grace to the humble (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

Give him room to speak today. It doesn’t matter where you are—it could be your bedroom, your car, or your cubicle. Just breathe deeply, quiet your thoughts, and be silent. Let him speak.

Did you follow this exercise today? What did God say when you took time to listen?

"Trust that the same God who brought you to it, will lead you through it" -

Father, help me to keep my eyes focused on you! Help me to not be overcome by my circumstances. I trust you. You have brought me to this place and you promise to not leave me in the middle. I will get through this because of you! Give me peace, patience, and endurance. Amen.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track—Proverbs 3:6

Set aside some time to pray and to listen. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Ask where you might find him next—maybe in Scripture; maybe through serving; or on a short-term mission trip; or out in his creation; or something else. Let him guide your thoughts. Let him keep you on track.
