Anyone else feel like this with their coffee? 🤣 For anyone who has ADHD, caffeine can be used as a way to make us more functional due to the dopamine it can create. Hence why you see many ADHD people needing things like caffeine or sugar because we are lacking dopamine and those are easy ways to fix it.

Since I am officially introducing my son to Star Trek (Star Trek Voyager specifically) today, I thought a Star Trek meme was appropriate. We can't run at our maximum all the time because we will burn out. Some times the best thing we can do is to is give ourselves some grace, a little self care, and just do our best where we are at each day. Also, don't tell my co-host I used a Star Trek meme (she refuses to accept that I like Star Wars, but I am also a Trekkie)!🤣

Anyone else? 🤣 But on a serious note, people with ADHD need to find dopamine and one of the easiest and quickest ways is caffeine. Personally, I am a total b***h before coffee because it feels like I can't organize my thoughts and slow my brain down. Don't even get me started if I wake up and remember my dreams, then it's speeding by a million times faster.

I want to do homework, I have a cup of coffee at 9/10pm so I can focus at the prime time for my brain to be calm and able to work the way I need it. Then promptly go right to sleep.

My son who is 9 can have a sip of coffee and he doesn't get riled up, but similar effects as me where it has a calming like effect. When you're ND and your brain is wired differently than the average Joe, some things may seem "weird" or make others say "I don't know how you can do that", but that's what makes us incredible in our own ways. We find things that helps us function and allows us to be ourselves, even if that thing that helps us is coffee. So please remember that before you say something like this in a serious way to people. Also, we just found this funny because we (coffee drinkers) all know someone who we drinks coffee in order to be able to handle the energy of others.

I'm ADHD and OCD and my youngest is ADHD with suspected autism (waiting on testing results). Over this last week, with the help of my NT boyfriend, we power cleaned my room and my youngest kid's room. I had a bit of a meltdown with my room and I'm 36 years old lol. My kid though, what a trooper. I expected the usual meltdown and panic attack but it never came. We did however, have a small issue with this 🤣. We kept finding things we forgot about and got slightly distracted. But it's done now and the air feels a little lighter. Here's to hoping we can keep it clean. 🤣 if you have a ND cleaning story we would love to hear about it in the comments.

Happy Holidays! We apologize we haven't been posting as frequently, but being ND while also planning and prepping for all the holiday festivities can be rough. But we are planning on getting some content ready for the new year. We won't be posting until after the weekend so we can enjoy our families. See you next year!

Who else can relate to this? I frequently have to stop my internal monolgoue in order to truly hear someone. Most days I have learned to cope and stopped being afraid to ask for a repeat and give myself grace that things take a little more time to process.

Also, did you know that not everyone has an internal monolgue in their head? Who has one and who doesn't? I definitely do, lol!

As parents (no matter how you became a parent), there is often times we feel that we aren't enough. And all parents make mistakes, but how we respond after those moments, especially with our neuro-divergent kids, is what they will remember and take away when they grow into adults themselves. Our kids will never know though how much those big, little hugs from them mean to us and how much they are needed on our end, as well as theirs.

Our kids mimic what they see. They learn how to cope with feelings and emotions by what they see us do. If we can't control and regulate ourselves why on earth would we expect them to be able to?

All too often, this is my day. I have found that setting alarms on my phone help but then I get annoyed at my phone. The thing that helps me the most is writing a list thw night before of all the things I need to get done the next day. I plan it all out and allow myself 1-2 hrs in the morning for coffee and worrying and planning. Physically crossing items off my list helps but I still feel bad when I don't get everything done I need to get done. I'm learning lately that it's ok to give myself a break. I'm not lazy, I'm doing the very best I can and that's ok.

With the holidays right around the corner we can expect a lot of sensory overload with our kids, especially our ND kids. I know I even get overwhelmed with the holidays. It's important to remember to do our best to stay calm and make sure everyone gets a little break sometimes. YES even us moms (and dads).

Neuro-divergent people tend to hear more negative statements about them throughout their lifetime, than neuro-typical people, especially ND kids! Here are some positive affirmations to remind all of your ND friends and family. Also, who hasn't struggled with transition times? I know that's a big one in our house- especially night time routine. Get creative and it will put a smile on everyone's face!
