AAPPOINTMENT, TRAINING AND COMMISSIONING OF THE ELECTORAL BODY

On 11 May 2023, an electoral board that consists of the elections commission, Observers, Media team, and representatives from the Christian Union(CU), Catholic Students Association(CSA), Seventh Day Adventist(SDA), and Muslim Students Association(MSA) was formed to foster the smooth running of the process during the electioneering period.

Presiding over the exercise, the elections coordinator, Mr. Wesley Ruto, together with his counterpart, the Returning Officer, Mr. Isaac Lagat equipped the members of the electoral board with skills. The training program commenced on the 11th of May 2023 and went up to the 12th of May 2023.

Subsequently, the electoral board was officially commissioned to oversee the entire elections.

The team will sensitise and provide voter education to students in various departments and societies within the institution to ensure maximum participation in the democratic exercise.

Based on various issues that were discussed during the workout, responsibilities were designated to the electoral board sections as follows: -

a)Voter education.

b)Roles of the returning officer, presiding officer, and the clerk.

c)Security team.

d)The importance of why the electoral officials are there and what they need to do.

e)Familiarization and need for teamwork.

Mr. Ruto inspired the members of the electoral board to work together to nudge amicable elections.

Further, Ruto cautioned the committee against unethical and illegal practices adding that any irresponsible actions shall be dealt with without fear or favour.

"Election is a process for just a short season. It shouldn't be the end of life, " Alluded the Coordinator.

Mkenya mwenzangu,Sasa siasa zimebadilika nchini ,wananchi wanahitaji amani kando na mahitaji mengine ambayo serikali hukidhi.

Mungu ametupa nchi nzuri na yenye kupendeza ambapo Sisi ndio wamiliki na walinzi.

Twahitaji kusimama kidete na kupigania hadhi ya nchi yetu na tuweze kua kielelezo kwa Mataifa ya Afrika Mashariki na mataifa mengine.

Tarehe tisa mwezi huu,jummane ya wiki lijalo,wakenya tutajitokeza kupiga kura.Kila mmoja ana uhuru wa kumpigia kiongozi ampendaye.

Ninakuomba,piga kura yako ,umchague kiongozi aliye na mikakati mizuri kuelekea nchi yetu.

Sisi k**a wenye nchi, tunahitaji biashara zetu ziimarishwe,Masomo,matibabu na nahitaji mengine yawe dhabiti, vijana wetu wapate kazi.Tuna mahitaji mengi sana.

Ili tufanikishe haya yote,twahitaji vitu vitatu:Umoja ,Amani na Upendo.Mpende mototo wako,mzazi wako,rafiki yako,jirani yako na yeyote utakayemuona katika maeneo yako.

Sisi wote ni wakenya na tunahitajiana katika ukuaji wa nchi,ninunue kwako nawe uniuzie ili tukuze nchi yetu, haswa kiuchumi.

Kumbuka kura huja na kupita,lakini mimi na wewe tunabaki, twawezaumia huku vijijini,kulingana na hali gumu ya maisha k**a tu,tutafanya uamuzi mbaya .

Tufikirie kwa hayo.

Basi,nisaidie kufikisha ujumbe huu kwa jamii zetu vijijini kwa Kushare ujumbe huu.
