While Maine contemplates an EV mandate that would require over 43% of new vehicles (82% by 2032) purchased in Maine to be electric vehicles, the number of EV models qualifying for US EV tax credits has fallen from 43 to 19.

Now, before anyone asserts that I am in support of said tax credits... I am not. BUT I point this out as supporters of the mandate insist that these tax credits can help folks afford said electric vehicles. So if Mainers can't afford to purchase an electric vehicle without a (taxpayer-funded) tax credit, their options will be even MORE limited!

The fact is, EVs just can't compete without government support. Despite any tax credits, rebates, tax exemptions, or other subsidies, only 6% of new cars currently purchased by Mainers are electric vehicles.

As another source so aptly pointed out, "The EV market is a giant mirage artificially propped up by extensive government intervention."

Shenna Bellows was an Elector in the Electoral College for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. If any Maine voter disenfranchised by Secretary Bellows was unaware of this you know now.

Being an Elector in the Electoral College is a huge deal and honor for the party faithful. There is no way that any rational person could consider her impartial in the 2024 Presidential election when her guy she was an Elector for in 2020 is on the 2024 ballot!

This is beyond outrageous. How can an Elector for Joe Biden be allowed to run the state's Presidential election with Joe Biden on the ballot?

More Stalinist tactics...

“On Tuesday, I attended a meeting of the Maine Automobile Dealers Association at CMCC. A great deal of alarming information was discussed in regard to electric vehicle mandates that could be coming to Maine citizens. My initial testimony to the board at the public hearing expressed huge concern with the fact that the Maine people have been left out of this upcoming vote.

In my opinion, it is not okay for a board of 7, assigned by the governor, to make a law that leaves the voices of Maine people silent. I believe 100% in “my car, my choice.” At the very least, such a mandate should be placed before elected officials, the legislature.

Recently, the Democratic Governor of Connecticut withdrew this California rule in his state. Connecticut is much more urban than Maine and yet the Democratic Governor realized that these rules are not possible for his state either. Why then are we having this forced upon us by unelected bureaucrats.

Please share your concerns with the Governor’s office. Your willingness to express your individual position regarding EVs is crucial for assuring a greater representation of our state’s citizens!”
