It takes a woman to do what a man can't or won't do.
A 25-year old woman today in the January 6th hearing – a profile in courage. Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony was rushed in at the last minute, because the committee was concerned that she would undergo witness intimidation if they didn’t present her testimony immediately. She provided smoking gun-level testimony against Trump and Meadows this afternoon. A Republican who worked in the White House just steps from the Oval Office, Hutchinson was at the center of most of these conversations and decision-making leading up to the attack at the Capitol delaying the peaceful transfer of power. She testified that her boss Meadows confessed to her in the days before the 6th that it was going to be “bad” at the Capitol. Hutchinson testified that she along with White House lawyers had to talk Meadows out of attending the “war room” with Giuliani, Bannon and others… on the 5th at the Willard Hotel. He called Roger Stone to talk about what was going to happen the next day on the 6th. Stone was with the Oath Keepers at that time. She said that Meadows “dialed in” to the meeting at the Willard instead.
The moment that finally turned Hutchinson’s back from supporting her boss Meadows and her President, as she testified, was that Trump and Meadows knew their rioting mob supporters had already begun to attack the Capitol police, had already smashed through the windows at the Capitol, chanting “hang Mike Pence,” when Trump told his staff that Pence deserved it, and that the rioters were right, and that neither Trump nor Meadows was going to do anything about the rioters.
She testified when he got back to the White House from the Ellipse, he threw his dinner plate against the wall of the white house dining room because he was so furious. She helped the valet wipe the food off the White House wall. Trump was so angry he couldn’t be there with the rioters to steal the election and install himself president with his armed supporters. Evidently, it was all planned out in Trump’s mind to lead the coup for days if not weeks. His secret service sworn to protect him, refused to let him go to the Capitol. Trump reportedly even tried to grab the steering wheel in the presidential limo, when the Secret Service agent had to grab Trump’s arm physically.
Hutchinson also testified that Trump was angry that the Ellipse was not filled enough with people by the time he was to speak, that were there too many of his armed supporters outside of the sectioned off area near and standing far away around Washington Monument. The “mags” the magnemeters that screened anybody to watch the President’s speech prevented them from coming in. He was furious that they were not allowed in, and that he wanted to get rid of the “mags” for his speech. He didn’t want them to get rid of their weapons, just get rid of the “magnemeters.” She said that Trump said they told her and others standing around him before his speech backstage that they are not here to harm me. This explains why the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys didn’t watch Trump’s speech and went to the Capitol earlier than expected.
We can only assume that the Secret Service officer will now be questioned. Today was one for the history books…
