Court of Appeal reverses sack of Nasarawa State Gov Sule by tribunal
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday affirmed the victory of the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Sule of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the election, while David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party came second.
But the state election petition tribunal led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi in a split judgment held that based on evidence from the various polling units, Ombugadu had the majority of valid votes at the election. But Sule appealed the judgment and asked the appellate court to set it aside.

Again, Court grants CBN former governor, Emefiele, bail of N300 million
A High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, bail for the sum of N300 million.
Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court delivered the judgement on Wednesday, ruling that the accused should also provide two sureties as part of the bail condition.
The sureties must have certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District.
In addition, Emefiele is required to submit all his travel documents to the court registrar and is obliged to stay within the Abuja Municipal Council. Meanwhile, he is expected to remain in Kuje Prison until his bail conditions are fully met.
The police in Lagos state has said that they have informed Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, that he can come and collect the co**se of his son anytime he wants but the man has not yet applied for it.
Recall that the mother of the singer released a video on Tuesday, November 21, saying that the body of the singer has released to the father but he has refused for it to be reburied.
Findings by LIB showed that the police, having concluded the
autopsy on the singer, informed the father that he can come forward to collect his body but the man is yet to apply for it.
A police source who spoke to LIB on condition of anonymity, said
"The body is in the morgue. It has not been released. It wouldn't be released to you and you wouldn't come and pick it. The hospital wouldn't allow it. Only the father can apply for the release of the co**se, only the father and the police has said any day he applies, he would get it immediately. We have told them, anytime they want it, just write an application but the father has refused to do that. Technically, it is the father that is holding back. The father has said he is not taking it yet until they do DNA and that is their personal family problem. If the man writes today, of course it will be released and he must carry the co**se. You can't write and keep it there. For who?"
Recall that the singer who passed away on September 12, was buried the next day, September 13. Following the controversy surrounding his demise, an autopsy was demanded for by Nigerians and his body was exhumed on September 21. It has not been reburied since then and the autopsy result is yet to be made public.

NLC, TUC suspends strike
The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Wednesday night suspended the ongoing strike.
The unions said the suspension followed the intervention of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.The meeting which commenced at a few minutes past 7 pm lasted for close to one hour during which various affiliates and state chapters reviewed the outcome of the meeting held between the leaders of the organised labour and Ribadu.The National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, made this known in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja.The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike. We did this based on our trust for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave us his words,” he said.The labour leaders met with Ribadu alongside the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, at the Office of the NSA on Wednesday afternoon.The NSA had announced that the individuals responsible for the brutalisation of Ajaero had been arrested.The organised labour is protesting against the alleged brutalisation of its National President, Joe Ajaero, and the failure of the government to implement some of the agreements reached on October 2, 2023 effectively..

Prices of imported goods to increase as FG adjusts customs exchange rate
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced adjustments to the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Exchange Rate calculations for import duties.
This is coming just five months after the CBN floated the Naira. According to a report by the Guardian, the Federal Government yesterday adjusted the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Exchange Rate calculations of import duties from N770.88/$ to N783.174/$
The changes were officially reflected on the NCS portal, just as stakeholders in the import and export value chain said the new rates would guide importers and clearing agents as they make quotations for new jobs and capture for payments.
The adjustment is in line with the CBN's recent decision to authorise banks to sell foreign exchange at market-determined The transition towards a single exchange rate regime, echoing President Bola Tinubu's commitment, was aimed at fostering economic stability.
However, this move, coupled with prevailing economic challenges and fiscal policy measures, has resulted in a 70% drop in importation, contributing to higher costs for clearing cargoes in Nigeria compared to other African countries.
Addressing the concerns over congestion at ports, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, stated the issue of abandoned and overtime cargoes during a recent meeting with port stakeholders. Some cargoes have lingered at ports for over a decade due to clearing bottlenecks, prompting a necessity for decongestion efforts. The minister said cargoes meant for Nigeria are taken to ports of Ghana, Togo, Cameroon and other neighbouring countries due to their lower cost of clearing goods.

A boat carrying election personnel to Registration Area-17 (Koluama) in Southern Ijaw LGA capsized earlier today, fortunately, no life was lost as all the election personnel numbering 12 and the boat operator were rescued.
However, INEC officials revealed in a statement that election RESULT SHEETS, POWER BANKS & luggage containing personal effects of staff have been lost to the sea.
Also, INEC Supervising Presiding Officer (SPO) assigned to registration area 06 in Ossioma, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been abducted.
The INEC official, was said to be abducted at Amassoma Community in Southern Ijaw LGA while waiting to board a boat at a jetty in the area.
Court bars NLC, TUC from embarking on nationwide strike
The two labour unions were ordered to stop their planned nationwide strike scheduled to commence on November 14.
President of the Court, Justice Benedict Bakwaph Kanyip issued the restraining order following an ex-parte application to that effect brought before the Court by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice.
Justice Kanyip invoked sections 17 and 19 of the National Industrial Court Act to issue the restraining order against the organised labour.
The Federal Government and the AGF through their lawyer, Tijani Gazali had in the ex-parte application prayed the court to stop the planned strike.
They said this was to avert untold hardships that would be inflicted on innocent law abiding citizens and their businesses.

Justina's autopsy result have brought a new twist indicating that her boyfriend may not have acted alone.
Okoligwe Damian Chinemere who is also a student of Uniport maintained that he found the lifeless body of his girlfriend in the morning.
However, the autopsy result show that a very sensitive body part was missing. The family had to bring in their own pathologist to join the one provided by the government and they both confirmed that the missing body part was done by a specialist as it was professionally removed.This revelation has led to more investigations that may lead to more arrests soon...
