The Dude:

Hey, that's me! My name is Brandon Greenall and I am the amateur creator behind Greenall Digital Media (get it? Greeeeenall Digital? Cause Greenall is my last name 😂). I'm a recent Commerce graduate with a degree in Finance and Marketing, currently working as a Digital Marketing Lead and Project Analyst at a local Prince George firm.

For as long as I can remember, I have been an avid consumer of online content - from the early days of YouTube, to tuning in to Twitch TV streams and listening to my favorite podcasts while I grind out that last minute homework assignment.

I've always wanted to be a content creator, but trying to find the time in Highschool and University was incredibly difficult, especially with the learning curve and the financial barrier of purchasing equipment and getting started.

This past year, however, I came across the opportunity to apply for the Storyhive Voices creator program and knew that I had to jump on this! Being selected as a creator this past fall, I got to learn so much from industry experts, attended workshops, got connected to a network on Canada wide creators, found a great local mentor through my place of work, and received financial support to get my equipment and hire professional production resources. I'm really excited to begin sharing my production later this year once Telus has approved the episodes for broadcasting. Feel free to follow my journey on here and I look forward to continuing my growth as a creator!

The Logo:

I grew up in the small northern community of Hazelton, British Columbia - a town full of beauty, nature, and incredible storytellers. This community and its people had and continue to have a profound impact on me, and it will forever be considered my home, regardless of where I find myself in my travels.

I wanted to reflect this piece of home in my logo design, which features the Stekyoden Mountain Range overlooking the meeting of the Bulkley and Skeena rivers, one of my favorite and arguably most beautiful viewing points in all of Hazelton. As for the storytelling element, I hope to carry on that aspect through my work and the projects that I am able to work on through Greenall Digital Media. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you follow along my journey!

The Setup:

Dual Shure SM7B microphones attached to Audio-Technica desk clamping microohone arms. These microphones produce great quality audio for fixed interview-style engagements and are one of the most popular microphones for podcast setups.

Zoom H4N Pro recorder. This handy recorder offers dual channel microphone inputs and records automatically in high quality, uncompressed WAV format, allowing for alterations to be easily made to the audio during the editing process. Compared to utilizing a laptop to record, this guy is silent and reduces the amount of noise isolation required for the audio. It also offers great flexibility for future engagements where portability is important, as this recorder has a battery powered option which also provides power for the Shure microphone setup - off the grid podcast, anyone?

Lastly, dynamite audio lifters to provide a little bit more omph - adding a bit of gain to the volume of each microphone.

After using this setup for the recording of six episodes of an upcoming project, I have to say I'm quite happy with how it performed! The audio came out crisp, however I found that the a
Audio-Technica arms were just a bit too light duty for the heavy Shure microphones, and plan on making the switch to beefier arms for future projects.

How would you rate this setup? Have a product or item you think would be an improvemrnt for future podcasting projects? Leave a comment down below!
