A year ago today I lost this crazy, annoying, frustrating, wonderful man. I didn’t think I’d ever have to learn to live without him. It’s been a crazy year, learning to live without his constant calls, his random dinner dates and him showing up just to spend time with me.

Today is the day, a year ago, dad went into the hospital and didn’t come home again… It doesn’t feel like a year has passed. It doesn’t feel like he’s really gone, I feel like I’ll go down to his house and see his truck there and go in to see him snoozing on his recliner. I still wait to see his name pop up on my phone when I get a random call. I miss him more than I ever thought was possible to miss another being.…

Tomorrow is the first day of turkey. My dad would be calling all of his friends and deciding where they would be going. He would be going out to put the turkey to bed tonight. Not his favorite season, but a season he loved none the less. Now he’s hunting in the stars
