Air Directed by Ben Affleck

Good and a very enjoyable movie. It is well-cast, well-acted, well-shot, and tells a great story about how Michael Jordan almost single-handedly transformed Nike from a one billion dollar, newly gone public company into a multi-national corporate giant.

A recommended watch for those who love biographies.

Surongo - সুড়ঙ্গ by Raihan Rafi

A Spoiler-free Review by Farhan Mahmud Akash

Let's address the elephant in the room. I've never been a big fan of Raihan Rafi's work. But, yes. Surongo is undoubtedly Raihan Rafi's best work to date. The technical aspects are almost perfect, the acting is extremely good, the direction is excellent - and this makes it an extremely engaging and entertaining movie. From the color grading, placement of songs, and the protagonist's performance we get the complete package.

Positives:
The story of Surongo has everything, thrill, suspense, accompanied by drama, comedy, and a crisis. Surongo primarily comes with 2 acts, an introduction of a greedy wife, Moyna; how she manupulates and abuses her husband, Masud for money and the 2nd act, where the titular & more interesting 'Surongo' parts begins. Toma Mirza shines in the screen time she's given. But what makes the story fully worthwhile is the powerful acting by the protagonist Afran Nisho. He is the heart of this movie.

Negatives:
The movie spends almost an hour and a half and 30-minutes just to get to the climax. This is where 'Surongo' really comes into its own. In the end, the climax does pay-off and makes this worth your time and money.

Final Verdict:
Afran Nisho has finally arrived and he's here to stay. Go watch it now at a Cineplex near you!

The Flash 2023 Movie

Yes it's a fun movie. The Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton Batman scenes are the highlights, no doubt. But the CGI was crappy (yes i've read the comments by the director, that's nothing but a lazy excuse), and overall this had no big stakes or consequences other than ending the Snyderverse.

Go watch it at a STAR Cineplex near you if you have time to kill.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3

This is James Gunn 's final love letter to Marvel.

Marvel Studios hasn’t been on top of their game for a while now, but this movie definitely puts them back on map for what they were so well known for- crafting stories that connect with the audience. This movie is one of the best so far. An emotional roller coaster ride that makes you laugh out loud and cry in the same scene. So many raw emotions combining comedy, gut-wrenching sadness, a bit of horror, action, and a heart-warming Rocket Raccoon origin story that guarantees tears (At least I cried) .

Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a testament to Marvel's storytelling prowess and a testament to the power of cinema. Go watch it now at a STAR Cineplex near you!

A Chorki Original Series

A short review by Farhan Mahmud Akash

If i'm not wrong, this is Bangladesh's first-ever spin-off series. And not comparing, this is on level with something like "Better Call Saul". From the world building to the background score to the brilliant cast, Shihab Shaheen has shown us how a spin-off series should be made. Nasir Uddin khan shows his range in every scene and makes you root for his character, even though he's the bad guy. Loved his chemistry with Rafiath Rashid Mithila.

Making a spin-off with a character which showed up for just 15-20 minutes in the main series " Syndicate" was a big risk, but it paid off. Looking forward to more from the world of Allen Swapan.

From set design to casting to scripting this is something you've never seen on Bangladeshi OTT. Mosharrof karim as OC Harun just kills it and blows you away with his powerful acting. The overall story mirrors the society we live in today. I just binged the hell out of it last night and am still processing what I witnessed. Maybe i'll give a full review later.
