**EDIT** It has been determined that this is a photoshopped image, sorry folks!

Original Post:

Found by sleuths on Instagram, unknown if this is authentic, but if it is - Awesome!

Earlier in production of Ghostbusters II it was conceptualized that the ECTO-1 and ECTO-1A would be seperate vehicles, and even called for a moment in which both cars would be next to each other or near each other in the firehouse.

This would be an excellent call back to Ghostbusters concepts, and a great opportunity to bring back other unused concepts to the next chapter of the Ghostbusters world.

I can only hope they don't do any stupid color changes like turning a cargo tube from yellow to lime green on the roof rack.

This week's "You've earned it" shout out goes to Mr. Toby Canham-James for this amazing overhaul of the recent budget Hasbro role play Proton Pack. The work Toby put into this project is nothing short of incredible, and it was all for a great cause! It was built for George, the young man who most of you have probably seen in the Make-A-Wish UK videos making the rounds.

Toby, you've outdone yourself with this one!

Recently I had an opportunity to visit the Ghostbusters firehouse and talk about this historic location, including the amazing fact that during the expansion of Varick Street in 1913 to 1914 the (facing) right side of the fire house was lifted off its original foundation and placed on the demolished foundation of the left hand side of the firehouse. Thus turning the double bay station into a single bay station as we see today. Well, the proof is in the photos.

In the first photo we have Hook & Ladder Company 8, posing infront of their firehouse sometime between 1910 and 1913, with then second photo showing the exterior elevations for the planned alterations.

The third photo though is the real proof, amidst alterations, we can see this is before the road has been widened, the right hand side (facing) foundation now lies empty, this is post demolition of the left hand bay, and the firehouse is actually still in the air as it would have been slowly and meticulously moved over and onto the foundation of its former twin. Which must have quite the site to see, even to your average New Yorker.

Moving the right (facing) side of the building would have been much cheaper for the city, as they would have only been faced with rebuilding the alley facing wall, which has little to no architectural features rather than hiring the slew of crafted tradesmen that would have been required to rebuild the beautiful Beaux-Style facade on both Varick and the back of building wrap around.

The fourth and fith photos show Hook & Ladder 8 now safely on its twin's foundation, and sidewalk repaired as rennovations continue on the street itself. Photo six shows the firehouse post alterations for tax assessments in the 1940s. (Thank you Ryan Espin for the correction!)

The scars still linger. I also invite our listeners to take a gander at photo seven, a screen grab from Ghostbusters II, where the discoloration of the brick on the left hand side of the building also indicates the strange alteration that took place decades before.

Finally as a bonus, as mentioned in our video check out the awesome Bicentennial artwork on the bay door in 1976, and notice the door itself, which would be replaced in the late 1970s or early 1980s with the featureless red bay door that would don the firehouse until its 2016 rennovation in which a replica of the original door was reinstalled.

Fun fact: Moving historical buildings in their entirety is still common practice, and several examples can be found in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia in which 17th and 18th century homes were literally picked up and moved to preserve the colonial city's 16th century look and feel. Only one or two more modern homes remain in the historic city due to their private ownership.

P.s. I want to give a special shout out to Ben King, who found many of these rarer photos and was kind enough to share them with me and our joined love of the history of our beloved Black Firehouse.

Update:

Dan here guys, I wanted to give our listeners an update!

I spoke with Austin this morning and he is sounding LOADS better, and I'm just about back to "normal." We're going to aim to record again this Sunday for Tuesday release, but all depends on how my partner in crime is feeling.

That said, I will be introducing a new Facebook live feed feature called, "Building for Busting," which will be a special live stream in which I work on builds live while talking Ghostbusters, life and whatever else! Of course I will check the chat to include everyone in on the fun! It will be an irregular segment whenever the weather is right and I'm super excited about it! So I'm spending all day tommorow cleaning up my back patio for this segment from Black Firehouse Podcast!

Get out there a Build Something!
