TAIWAN AND CHINA CONFUSED BY US DECLARATION, REFER TO ONE CHINA POLICY
Diplomats in China and Taiwan alike were confused by the US declaration of Taiwanese independence, claiming that by doing so the US had declared there were two Chinas, which both parties agree is not the case.
While US recognition of Taiwan as an independent country was met with primarily confusion, parades in Taiwan indicate a sense of happiness at finally having another super power truly at their back.
Meanwhile China warns that its territorial integrity is not subject to threats and posturing from the US, no matter how aggressive and imperialist the United States may become.
China announced last week that they are proceeding with plans to expand their naval and aerospace capabilities in the realm of civilian science and defense alike. What impact this will have on the situation in Taiwan is yet to be seen.
