Present

In 1991, Jane's Addiction's attempt at a farewell-tour extravaganza accidentally defined a generation and changed the music industry. Seven or eight bands in 20 cities sounds paltry compared to the 100-plus that will play Lollapalooza in Chicago this August, but ask anyone involved in that inaugural...

For at least 1 day in New York, Grand Funk Railroad was bigger than The Beatles.

It had taken the Beatles 80 days to sell out the Shea Stadium.

It had taken Grand Funk only 72 hours. According to stadium police officials, "It looked like World series fever all over again." In short, when tickets went on sale at Shea Stadium it was a veritable riot! More than 21,000 fans showed up on Saturday morning, June 5, 1971, when the sixteen ticket booths opened. 12.000 had spent the nigh to outside the stadium camping out in bags, tents and blankets, in order to assure themselves seats for the concert. Licence plates, of every concieveable type of vehicle crowding the parking lot, showed that fans had come from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Ohio.

Sid Bernstein, promoter of the concert, the same man who brought The Beatles to Shea, affirmed. "This has broken every record we ever set with The Beatles. I would never say that anyone is more popular than The Beatles, but, Grand Funk's fans certainly have responded more quickly and with a different kind of enthusiasm."

"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" vs. I'm Your Captain". In the long run, we all known who won, if in fact it ever was an issue, but GFR was a huge band, 49 years ago today in NYC.

It is with great sadness we share the news of Jack O Bo****no's passing.

Jack was a supporter of the Syracuse Music Scene. As a talented photographer, he shared photos of nearly every local performing musician.

At the Sammys, Jack manned the camera at the red carpet capturing smiles and celebrations.

Jack selflessly shared his talents.

Two years ago the Sammys Executive Committee voted unanimously to create an award to honor his loving support of the Syracuse music community.

It is our hope that the Spirit of Jack O Bo****no award will hold him in our hearts as an example of human excellence.

Rest in Peace our dear friend.

PLEASE SHARE! BMG Records recording artist Devon Allman of the Allman Betts Band is going to go "on tour" from his house! Since bands can’t go city to city during these difficult and separated times, Allman will change themes from show to show to keep it unique. “One night will be cover songs, one night originals, one night Q&A live, one night special guests, one night request hour, etc” said Allman.

Gibson Guitars, Earthworks Audio and Meyer Sound Lab are all getting behind the project. Gibson and Earthworks will be supplying musical gear that will be used as giveaways over the course of the performances.

LIVE on the Devon Allman page :

Wednesday 7pm Central
Friday 7pm Central
Sunday 4pm Central

Each week Team DA will post a graphic across all "Devon Allman" and "Allman Betts Band" websites listing the upcoming performances and what the theme for each gig will be. With most artists hopping on at random times, Devon wants to have a schedule with shows fans can look froward to and interact as well. The shows will be LIVE on the Devon Allman page and then reposted the next day to all platforms like YouTube, Instagram etc.

There will be a virtual tip jar in place to donate with proceeds going to the Allman Betts Band touring crew to help during the time off of touring.
