Uhhhhmmm, friendsies???

There's actually a new episode out now. :)

Soooooooooooo....almost fifteen months has passed. I think it's time for a new episode, this time about the Dragonfly cartridge:

The setup thingy is asking me for a podcast description. This is a podcast. It's about homebrews on the Atari 7800. What more d'ya need?

It's still summer -- what better time to play miniature golf?

Wait, what?? It's RAINING?? (or it's actually winter in your part of the world?) Well...good news: there's a miniature golf game you can play on your Atari 7800! Here's a new podcast episode about it!

Anybody have either - or both - of these? Thoughts??(And can I just retire now instead of 20 years from now?)

Cleaned up some intro graphics. Tried to eliminate delay between intro and main screen. Also added Level 1 clear sequence.

What? Time for another episode ALREADY?! Well, Bob DeCrescenzo has DONE IT AGAIN. This time, with some help from Kurt Woloch. In this episode we explore the latest addition to the 7800 homebrew library, the only home conversion of an arcade classic.

Hi, all. I swear, a new episode is in the works. There's only one segment that needs to be recorded yet, but unfortunately it's a *long* segment. And when you sit down and record it, and exit the program after FORGETTING TO SAVE IT -- TWICE!!!! -- you get discouraged and you just need to storm off in a huff for a while and, well...keep procrastinating. Which is what I've been doing. I promise, it will come out before much longer.

In the mean time, if you miss my voice, there is a new episode of Autobiography of a Schnook out, especially cool if you want a break from hearing me talk about video games!

You know what it's like when you record 30 minutes of material for a long-overdue podcast episode, and then you forget to export the audio before you close down the program and it's gone forever, and you have to re-record?

I am saddened to learn of the death of the great Tim Skelly.

There are at least two great homebrew versions of his games for the 7800. Maybe now is a good time for those who don't have them to perhaps consider honoring his memory.

Hey, everybody. Been a while since you heard a peep out of me.

Just want to assure you all that a new episode is in the works and has been for months. It's just that this episode in particular is proving a lot more work to put together than just about any other one I've done.

In the mean time...the future is looking pretty cool for new 7800 products. There's an Arkanoid conversion in the works. Draker Quest II. GoSub. And several other titles that are too early in the morning for me to think of.

And, of course, the Expansion Module has finally shipped to developers! It's a matter of time before that sucker reaches the rest of us!

Rest assured I've been hard at work, though, researching and recording (yep, recording is well underway!) episode 50! Hopefully before long, this podcast will no longer be an annual podcast!

Will be doing some ExtraLife streaming. Baby Pac-Man on the 7800 coming within an hour or so!

31/10/2019

Hey, everybody...I just found out some POKEY titles are now back in the AtariAge store, using the new PokeyONE chip. Mind you, the PokeyONE by itself costs $40 a pop, so the prices on these games might be costly. (Keep in mind you also get a box and manual.)

Looks like the titles are:

Beef Drop
Crystal Quest
Froggie
Pac-Man Collection!
Super Circus AtariAge

Also, I'm putting the next episode together. God wiling, it will be available by Thanksgiving. In case you don't follow AtariAge closely, there's some more new stuff in the works that looks pretty exciting!

Hi again, everyone. As you may have concluded, I'm in the midst of preparing the first new episode of this podcast in several months. But in the mean time...

I will be participating in Extra Life again this year: 24 hours of video gaming to raise money for Children's Miracle Network; I'll be sending my donations to Lurie Children's Hospital. While it might sound fun, the truth is, 1) I'm splitting it up (doing 12+ hours in one go, the rest on another day) so it's not 24 straight hours, and 2) when your eyes are staring at video screens for hours and you're on your feet a while (I'll be doing those main 12+ hours at Underground Retrocade), it really drains your energy!

I'm hoping to get at least $500 in donations. Follow the link!

PRGE has come and gone. This year's show was the official launch of this title for our beloved ProSystem. Let me know what you think of it by Hallowe'en!

Hey, everybody...just wanted to let you know this podcast is not dead. :) Just on a very, very long hiatus! As you know, I kind of ran out of titles to talk about (for now!). Also, various things in life have kind of taken a priority as well, so I've been focusing on other things (including Autobiography of a Schnook). I am trying to put together some kind of episode that covers just 7800 homebrew development in general, but whatever happens, I do have an episode specifically planned to be released shortly after PRGE next month.

Just wanted to reassure you the podcast is still alive! Apparently someone was told that I got a C&D from Atari or something, but no. (I'd be dead surprised if anybody from whoever owns the Atari name even knows about the 7800 PERIOD, let alone a very focused podcast for a very specific demographic!)

You'll hear from me next month, if not sooner!

21/08/2019

Hey, everyone. I'm still here! Just thought I'd say something, as I've seen over the last few months a LOT of new subscriptions coming in. (Or are you all just...bots? Actually, if you are, don't tell me; I don't want to know.)

The next episode -- Baby Pac-Man -- will likely be dropping around October, when PRGE happens. I've kind of been debating as to whether to do the episode before then, but I really don't want to have to do an episode about a game that's not yet available, know what I mean?

Speaking of PRGE...if you've been to the AtariAge store, you might have noticed that none of the 7800 Pac-Man titles are available. DO NOT PANIC -- there was on cease and desist from NAMCO or anything; Albert actually removed those titles from the store temporarily, and they will be available again when Portland Retro Gaming Expo happens.

Until then, this podcast will...just be chillin'. If you absolutely NEED to hear my voice before then, there's always Pie Factory Podcast (episode 100 will be out soon!), and Autobiography of a Schnook.

I have some spare time, but not much...I figured...why not?

10/04/2019

Hey there, friends...sorry about that mixup with the new episode. The Feedburner folks said some podcasts got messed up and other people's podcasts ended up going to the wrong feeds. They're hoping to have things straightened out by the weekend!

(I don't mind saying this, but...now I'm kind of in the mood for some Spuddleduds!)

What have I been up to lately?Ummm....nothing special. :)

I have a four-day work week, then I'm done until 2019. As expected, the days are passing slowly and asymptotically. But sometimes something happens at work that really helps make the wait better.

These showed up at my desk this afternoon.

I'm about to finish up my hours! I'm $88 shy of my goal of raising funds for Lurie Children's Hospital.

You can go to my donation page and 1) watch me play video games instead of burning yourself out on election returns, 2) donate to Lurie, or 3) both!
