ASRS's mission is to represent and serve a diverse national and international community of scientists, practitioners, private industry, technicians, educators, planners, and government regulators involved in mineral extraction and the reclamation of disturbed lands. ASRS promotes the advancement of basic and applied reclamation science through research and technology transfer in the Society's annu
al meetings, workshops, published proceedings, newsletters, Reclamation Matters magazine, and the ASRS web site.

ASRS Round Tables – we want to hear from you!
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the American Society of Reclamation Sciences (ASRS) is preparing to update the strategic plan we adopted in 2018. We are currently in the assessment stage of planning and we want your feedback!
To gather input from our members and other stakeholders, we will be hosting at least three virtual round table discussions on the following dates:
July 11 at 12:00 pm Central
August 5 at 10:00 am Central
August 27 at 3:00 pm Central
Topics of discussion will include:
• Strengths of ASRS
• What do you hope to gain from an ASRS membership?
• What opportunities exist for ASRS that we’re not taking advantage of?
There will also be an open session at the end of each round table meeting for participants to introduce their own topics.
Our updated strategic plan will be strongest if we hear from as many ASRS stakeholders as we can. Please plan to join us for one, two, or all three of the round table discussions by registering at the links below:

Attention Students and Mentors!
The deadline for submitting ASRS Memorial Scholarship applications has been extended. Applications will be accepted through March 18, 2024. One scholarship is awarded at each academic level (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral).
A complete application will include:
• Completed application form
• Letter from applicant outlining education and career goals
• Transcripts
• Resume/CV
• Three reference letters

The abstract submission deadline for the 2024 Joint Meeting of the American Society of Reclamation Sciences and the Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative in Knoxville, Tennessee, has been extended by two weeks. Abstracts for oral presentations, poster presentations, and videos will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. (central) on Friday, March 15, 2024.
