and I tend to find places that feel more like home. So why should it be any different when we head out to San Diego to run the marathon. The Big Kitchen became our spot as we were fortunate to nab the same booth for breakfast the day before and after the marathon. Great food and a phenomenal vibe we’re to order. We even got to meet Judy the owner and de facto mayor of the Golden Hill neighborhood where the restaurant resides. Being there felt like kismet and we look forward to getting back. Thank you to the entire Big Kitchen fam for your hospitality.
Truly a counter culture, keep on truckin’ ❤️

So we did a thing today. Our first marathon in San Diego. Emotionally and physically spent. Thank you for all those that were supportive during this process. Shout out to for pretty much for equipping us from head to toe and their encouragement. We also can’t say enough about the people of San Diego for opening up their city and their hearts to all the runners. There are two that could not have made it through with out you.

Hooray for Hollywood. Dinner more than 100 years of Hollywood history steeped in these walls. The joint that introduced Fettucini Alfredo to the States. A recipe which was brought back to from Italy by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. To this day you can still dine in the Charlie Chaplin booth who had begun dining in the establishment back when Hollywood blvd. was still a dirt road. They did not disappoint. ❤️

When first dreaming up content for Hipster Adjacent this was one of the first episodes we conceived with Jennifer & Nina in mind. It was every bit as wonderful as we imagined.

Briefcase Full of Blues is the debut album by The Blues Brothers, released on November 28, 1978, by Atlantic Records. It was recorded live on September 9, 1978, at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, when the band opened for comedian Steve Martin. The album consists of covers of blues and soul songs from the 1950s to 1970s. The album reached #1 on the billboard charts which gave John Belushi the #1 movie(Animal House) TV show(Saturday Night Live) and album(Briefcase Full of Blues) simultaneously.

What's Going On is a concept album with most of its songs segueing into the next and has been categorized as a song cycle; the album ends with a reprise of the album's opening theme. The narrative established by the songs is told from the point of view of a Vietnam veteran returning to his home country to witness hatred, suffering, and injustice. Gaye's introspective lyrics explore themes of drug abuse, poverty, and the Vietnam War. He has also been credited with promoting awareness of ecological issues before the public outcry over them had become prominent.
The album was an immediate commercial and critical success, and came to be viewed by music historians as a classic of 1970s soul. In 2001, a deluxe edition of the album was released, featuring a recording of Gaye's May 1972 concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Broad-ranging surveys of critics, musicians, and the general public have shown that What's Going On is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time and a landmark recording in popular music.

Hailed by many as the greatest male movie star of all time, Humphrey Bogart was born in New York on December 25, 1899. Bogart became a legend with his roles in 1940’s -era films like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and To Have and Have Not. One of Hollywood’s most popular actors in the wake of Casablanca, Bogart continued on a long distinguished career that included over 80 films. His most celebrated performance after Casablanca came in 1951 film The African Queen, for witch he won his first and only Academy Award for Best Actor. Bogart was a founding member and original leader of The Rat Pack. Humphrey Bogart passed away on Jan 14, 1957 at the age of 57.

So in between recording an episode on Vinyl Records with Keith from .sav and about film we got into a passionate discussion about That Thing You Do! -and what turns out to be our favorite band created just for film “The Wonders”.
Almost wish we were recording at the time. We may have to revisit this on and delve into whatever happened to the “Oneders”.
