Malala Yousafzai writes in defence of the film ‘Joyland’ after it was banned from its theatrical release by the Punjab government.

The activist shared, “when a film like Sadiq’s raises up working class or trans characters, and women struggling to assert themselves against rigid and very real social norms, we turn away. In doing so, we reject the spectacular talent of Pakistani artists that a film like Joyland represents.”

“What message are we sending to the next generation who, like Sadiq, want to make films in Karachi or Swat Valley, when we ban art by our own people?” shared the activist.

The Legend of Maula Jatt's winning streak continues as the magnum opus becomes Pakistan's first offering to hit the PKR150 crore mark! The Bilal Lashari directorial has garnered over PKR150 crores combined at the Pakistani and international box office.

Following the disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan by the ECP in the Toshakhana reference--- protests erupted nationwide; with protestors burning tyres and blocking motorways.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Friday as it announced its verdict in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference.

A four-member bench declared Imran Khan’s National Assembly seat vacant as it unanimously decided that he had provided incorrect information in the case and disqualified him “for the time being”.

The verdict de-seated Imran as per Article-63 (A) and ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against him for submitting a false statement. However, the ECP shied away from declaring the deposed premier disqualified for life.

Meanwhile, the PTI leadership has announced that it will challenge the decision in court.

As Farhan Saeed stepped on the red carpet, fans awaiting his arrival jumped up to greet him with cheers, followed by flashes of cameras.

On Tuesday evening, Farhan was joined by Urwa Hocane, Sohail Ahmed and Iman Aly for the trailer launch of their film Tich Button. Cast member Feroze Khan and Sonya Hussyn were missing in action.

Would you want to watch a Pakistani serial killer's story?💡

Ryan Murphy’s serial killer biopic Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has broken Netflix records in its first week on the streamer. The Evan Peters-led series landed Netflix’s most-watched Week 1 on record for a new series worldwide following its release on September 21.

In its first five days on the platform, it drew in 196.2 million hours(opens in new tab) of viewership, taking the number one spot on Netflix’s Top 10 in several countries including Pakistan. The figure is the highest first week of viewership for an all-new series on the streamer to date.

Now, the director of Javed Iqbal's biopic is highlighting how his depiction of Pakistan's most notorious serial killer was halted from screening in cinemas by the censor board mere days before its release date.

American actor and humanitarian Angelina Jolie is currently in Pakistan to meet victims of the recent floods. As part of her tour, she visited the National Flood Response Coordination Centre on Wednesday.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. I have, as you mentioned, been to Pakistan many times, I came first because of the generosity the Pakistani people have shown the people of Afghanistan over the years and as a host country. It’s often the countries that don’t have as much that give so much more than many other countries and now, at this time, we see it’s the countries that cause less damage to the environment that is now bearing the brunt of the disaster and the pain and the death,” she said at the meeting.

Alizay Sultan has finally confirmed reports of her and husband Feroze Khan calling it quits after four years of marriage‼️

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Alizay opened up about the psychological and physical violence she faced while married to the ‘Habs’ actor and also talked about how she has taken the step to step out of an abusive relationship in order to protect her children from growing up in a toxic environment‼️

“I had to endure infidelity, blackmail, and degradation at the hands of my husband,” she wrote adding that she’s finally concluded that she cannot spend her life in such a “horrific manner”‼️

“The welfare and wellbeing of my children
have played a significant role in this
decision. I do not want them to grow up in a toxic, unhealthy and violent household,” she continued adding that she’s afraid how exposure to such a hostile environment would impact their mental development and approach to life‼️

Two people died on Monday as rain coupled with strong and cool winds lashed parts of Karachi.

A spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation said Hammad Rafiq, 18, was electrocuted near Baldia Town’s Pakora Chowk and the body was shifted to the nearby Murshid Hospital.

In another incident, a 27-year-old man was electrocuted in Saudabad. Saudabad Station House Officer Khalid Memon identified the victim as Muneer Shafi, adding that his body has been moved to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre.
