It took us 1 day 9 hours but we have arrived in 🇵🇷 the sail was gorgeous and smooth. We had one issue with our engine underway but it wasn’t bad.

We are tired but glad to be here and start exploring. Clearing in was easy peasy and the beaches here are gorgeous!

Our last evening her in the Dominican Republic and it didn’t disappoint. Great food and of course coconut drinks on the beach!

We leave tomorrow evening for Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and cross the infamous Mona Passage 🫣 we should be good 👍 weather is good waves are light. I’m nervous and excited 😍

Today’s adventure was exploring the caves there are several caves here and we were able to do two in one day!

There is a cave with petroglyphs and it cost $2 per adults and kids are free! You definitely need a flash light to explore. The boys had blast exploring every rock or crawl space they could fit in. The second cave has a dock next to a rangers station and is best to visit at low tide. Both places are really amazing and we will definitely be exploring them again.

We made it to the National Park in Samana 😴 the sail was excellent and we have been resting all day.

Tomorrow we will explore the caves and have dinner at the eco lodge.

This sail was beautiful and also rough at the end but I will share more details in our blog post. Anyone who understands cruising understands the mental and physical stress it can cause sometimes. But the amazing views and relaxation is worth it.

A quick glimpse into our past week of projects onboard. I’m pretty sure I don’t have pictures of all of the whew 😥

Getting boat work in between squalls 🤪

I’m scrubbing the deck with ospho dal is sealing our mast boot. It’s gorgeous weather in between the 30 knot squalls. Just makes the boat work more exciting!

Halloween in the Dominican Republic was amazing 🤩 kids had fun bobbing for apples and face painting at the marina and then we went and visited our friends in luperon! Thanks everyone for the amazing time! Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween 🎃

Defender Marine just saved our butts again 🤯 we had to ship a lot of last minute boat project items. We ordered them Wednesday and they will arrive here Saturday in the Dominican Republic. Thank you guys so much. We are going to be able to head east to Puerto Rico a lot faster because of you!
Now if only the weather would cooperate 😞🤪💩

We are only a few weeks away from heading east to Puerto Rico!
We still have a lot to do but we have narrowed our projects down to most important only. Now we will just need the weather to cooperate 🙃

Happy Sunday Funday from our wild crew on Kaizen

We have been struggling the last few weeks with tummy bugs and are finally on the mend.

Today was the first day the boys had really been up to getting off the boat. So we went to Charros and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.
It’s starting to cool off a bit which is amazing! I hear the weather is only just going to get better!

It’s been a gorgeous weekend here in but we have been feeling the pressure of getting all of our work done in the next two months before we set off again.
Our work list includes
1. Sewing new cushion down below
2. Sewing hatch covers, jerry can covers, Dorade covers, dinghy chaps, and a helm cover
3. Fixing our black water tank
4. Replacing our trilight
5. Fixing our autopilot
6. Outboard repairs
7. Swages
8. Shower head fixed
7. Teak handle fix
We have two months left before we are off shore again 😳 hopefully we can get it all.

These two 🥰 I can’t believe how big they have gotten in the last year.
Ryker is now 8 years old and reading, spearfishing, and loves paddle boarding!
Torin is now 5 just finished his kindergarten lessons and is starting to learn to read. He’s also swimming!!
It’s crazy how fast these kiddos grow and change in such a short time. I’m so glad we get the chance to spend so much time with them doing this lifestyle.

Playing dominoes in the cockpit of Kaizen ❤️

I went shopping today and got to check out a few new stores before grabbing groceries. One of which had dominoes!
Dominoes is a very popular game here in the Dominican Republic. The boys love watching the locals play on the street. So when I saw them at the store I had to get them for all of us to play on the boat.

It’s definitely a new favorite game onboard now ❤️🇩🇴

Sunday Funday with the cruisers at Charros!

Every Sunday all of the cruisers get together at charros for breakfast and fun. They have a swimming pool pass as well where if you pay 100 pesos you can swim all day. The food is incredible and the staff is friendly.

We are finally getting settled in and getting organized on Kaizen. I don’t think we actually knew how exhausted we were from all the traveling we have done. But we are slowly feeling normal again lol. This week we are going to move Kaizen into her new slip and start on some new sewing projects. We also have some maintenance projects that need to be done before Dal heads to California for work.

We will be in the Dominican Republic till the end of October. Then we will make our way to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
