She challenged to overcomes categories of musics and she performed violin and use loop machine and create something new 🎶🤩🤗 Her honest passionate and true humanity and guts strong spirits made such a touching music and I’m so happy I offered her to challenge the way I asked, She opened new door in her music life and delivered LOVE. Julie Marghilano is a classically trained musician that knows the value of hard work and determination that is required to make a vision blossom into a living and breathing entity. Putting in numerous hours of study in and out of the conservatory for violin, Julie learned the discipline it took to master her craft. While studying classical music, she realized that her true passion was more within the electronic sound spectrum; this led her to experiment with the electric violin and fully absorb herself into electronic music.
Julie has been on a musical path since a young age: born to a jazz musician father and vocalist mother, she was always surrounded by bee bop and swing, and thus was being infused with an infallible sense of unconventional rhythm and training in musical theory at an early age.
Raised in Las Vegas but with years spent exploring her Italian roots in Italy, Julie has soaked up a wide array of influences and experiences, has held various residencies (Peter Pan and Echoes) and played in various events around the world like Tied Chicago, Flash, Washington, Slowdance Moscow, Tresor, Berlin and Freerotation festival.
As an impassioned record collector, a natural next step for Julie was to set up her vinyl only / art collective and party, Sol Asylum, with the help of her trusted friend and resident DJ, Miss Jools that has had a long standing residency at Club Der Visionare/Hoppetosse.. Julie has an eye and ear for finding like-minded creative souls while curating artists who are constantly pushing boundaries while exploring the territory outside of their comfort zone like Anton Zap, Dana Ruh, Titonton Duvante, and Pressure Point.
For Sol Asylum’s fifth year as a musical collective the label had its 15th release from Freerotation founders Steevio & Suzybee whose immersive combination of visuals and music was the perfect way to celebrate the labels fifth year milestone.
Julie started a new collaboration in July 2019 at the well respected About Blank club in Berlin with her friend Isabelle Bees/Belisa Booking called Gravity. The party concept is an open genre platform created to get to know the artists on a more personal level. On this night the DJ or Live act is welcome to play the music that inspired them to become the artists they are today.. For their first events, they invited dj Masda, Kenneth Scott live,Evan Baggs, Quest and Federico Molinari and it was a pure joyful pleasure to see and hear this unique musical journey.
In 2020/21 Julie pushed forward by doing audio visual activism streams with the very talented video genius, Trig Fardust. She decided to Focus on ways to use her talents to be able to get her voice of hope and unity through her musical expression. In this particular time she used this down time to experiment with different genres and has produced an ambient track made exclusively with her violin, loop and fx machine for Advanced Public Listening, a 2 LP compilation with a long list of musical masters including Matthew Herbert, Move D, Takeshi Nishimoto, AtomTm,, Roman Flügel. Keep an eye out for these LP’s, a uniquely special act of musical love.
Always pushing herself beyond the horizons of musical limitation and continuing to push forward as a collector, curator, producer, and musician, Julie will continue to reveal her future vision through her music and labels…
