Here are 7 lessons from the book The Practicing Mind by Thomas Sterner:

1. Focus on the process, not the outcome. When we focus on the outcome, we are more likely to become discouraged or anxious if we don't see immediate results. Instead, focus on the process of practicing and enjoying the journey.

2. Be present in the moment. When we are practicing, it is important to be fully present in the moment. This means paying attention to our bodies, our thoughts, and our feelings. If we are distracted by the past or the future, we will not be able to fully engage in the practice.

3. Accept imperfection. Everyone makes mistakes. When we are practicing, it is important to accept that we will not be perfect. Instead of focusing on our mistakes, focus on learning from them and improving.

4. Be patient. Learning and growth take time. Don't expect to see results overnight. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the process of learning and growing.

5. Find a teacher or mentor. A good teacher or mentor can provide guidance and support as you are learning and growing. They can help you to identify areas where you need to improve and can offer encouragement along the way.

6. Create a community of practice. Practicing with others can be a powerful way to stay motivated and on track. Find a group of people who are also interested in learning and growing, and support each other on your journey.

7. Make practice a part of your life. The best way to improve at anything is to practice regularly. Make time for practice in your daily schedule, and make it a non-negotiable part of our life.

"This painting of a young woman breastfeeding an old man in a prison cell was sold for Euros 30 million. The painting may look perverse but the story behind is from historical records.
The poor man was sentenced to "death by starvation" for stealing a loaf of bread during the reign of Louis XIV in France. The woman was his only daughter and the only visitor to his cell. She was allowed to visit him daily but was frisked thoroughly such that no food was taken in.
When after 4 months the man still survived with no weight loss, the authorities were perplexed and started spying on her in the cell and to their utter astonishment found her to breastfeed her father to the fullest sharing her baby's milk. The judges then realizing the compassion and love of the woman for her father, pardoned the father and set him free.
This piece of history brings into focus how deep is a woman's compassion in our daily lives that men often tend to overlook."

Having successful people's phone numbers is NOT Networking. It doesn't do you any good if you provide no value. Everyone is after value,. what do you bring to the table? Some people know everyone.. the MCA, all local rappers, the Chief, the wash wash guys, Mathe.. they have everyone's contacts yet you will see them at the local pub hustling other people to buy them "ka quatre".. don't worship anyone,.. don't get excited collecting "celebrities" phone numbers and taking selfies with them.. focus on building yourself.. focus on providing value and solutions in Society.

The wise people we have are advising young men and ladies not to concentrate more on weddings but put focus and concentration on marriage. You want to spend more on a wedding day only after few months the bank you borrowed money from starts hunting you, the wife who convinced you to borrow runs away and leaves the burden for you . If you can't finance your wedding at a personal level don't go for a loan to impress the society but instead go for a small loan and start a business with your spouse. A wedding is a one day event while marriage is a lifetime occasion.

LIFE LESSON

1. Don’t lend money to your family. Give it.

2. Never shake a hand while sitting down.

3. Stop telling people more than they need to know.

4. Never eat the last piece of something you didn't buy.

5. Don't throw your friend under the bus to impress someone.

6. Never insult the cooking when you are the guest.

7. Don't use the urinal next to an occupied one.

8. Don't take out your phone during a conversation.

9. Never take credit for work you didn't do.

10. Listen, nod, and most of all make eye contact.

11. Don't make fun of your friend in front of his kids.

12. Never let emotions overpower you.

13. Never beg for a relationship.

14. Dress well no matter what the occasion.

15. Never kick a man when he is already down.
