Happy Mother's Day!
Late in the day, void of hearts and flowers but full of reality.
There is no such thing as a perfect parent.
I can attest to the fact that as hard as I had tried, I made mistakes and poor judgement calls while raising my two boys. Who doesn't? Conversely, they are my biggest fans, source of encouragement and providers of unconditional love. THEY are my greatest accomplishment.
There may be some of you who recall your relationship with your Mom as being slightly less than idyllic. I consider myself one of those people. I remember being judged as a child by other parents and kids because I was always the "new kid", the "different kid". I overheard the gossip from other parents targeting my mother because she was different, she walked funny and why didn't she ever mix with the other parents. I lived in 18 homes before I was 18 so yeah, I was and still am different from most. So much to unpack and all for another time. News flash! I am still the new kid and still different from many and...still judged and talked about. I just view that with a very different perspective these days.
Fast forward to NOW! I appreciate the conversations and stories shedding light on other's experiences with their mothers. My new partners in Podcast Crime, have blessed us with A million Kinds of Mom's to shed light and perspective on one of life's most important and challenging roles. A mother.
A Million Kinds of Mom's... Enjoy!
