It's been really amazing following the lead-up and launch of Arcaea's ver4.0 update and its related content. Seeing the community come together to unravel its mysteries really was a sight to behold.

After playing the game for just over seven months now, my impressions have been near universally positive. Arcaea has a very strong visual aesthetic, innovative gameplay (especially so when it comes to the higher difficulties), an expansive tracklist with both original songs, popular rhythm game entries and collaborations with other games, and is-- for the most part-- skill-friendly.

I've unfortunately had to take in most of this from the sidelines, though, since one difficulty spike that's essentially required to unlock the final story pack is proving a bit tough for me to overcome.

Even though the "main game" is over, I'm looking forward to seeing what lowiro has in store for the game's future!

To help celebrate the opening of the new Materia data center for Final Fantasy XIV, I ended up making a fresh character to check things out. Meet "K'rinjh Tia", located on Bismarck server!

As if I wasn't already spreading myself thin... but I kinda want to check out the other regions (JP and EU) at some point. While we will be getting the ability to visit other datacenters soon-ish, actually taking our characters to other regions of the world is still a long way off.

Something to think about.

There *may* also be an after-work FFXIV stream to participate in Heavensturn, but this-- as well as future FFXIV streams-- will be dependent on whether or not patch 6.05 will further address the sounds issues seemingly brought on by the implementation of the spatial audio tech.

TLDR Endwalker was great, but sound lag issues dragged down an otherwise good experience. I feel like this issue hasn't been talked about much amidst all the queue and error memes. Hoping that the team can pull through with a fix.

So, I got into playing ARCAEA.

I'm somewhat a closet rhythm game/otoge fan but it's been a really long time since I've actually played one. Years ago my computer was drowning in osu! files and back when I had the room to do it, the mat was out for DDR on the PS2. These days, anyone who knows me knows I like to shill the heck out of the BMS of Fighters competition (and more specifically, the yearly GroundbreakinG compilation album that gets put out afterwards-- because it's *free music*).

I'd say it was partially because BOFXVII is currently ongoing that I decided to find an otoge that would break up my usual RPG fare on mobile and, with surprisingly a lot of choices out there, I settled on ARCAEA.

My first impressions of ARCAEA so far are mostly positive. I love the visual style of the game overall and there's a great selection of songs, both available for free and for purchase (yes, I have bought all the non-collaboration song packs already, why do you ask? >.>). Normal gameplay is thankfully unrestricted but the mode in which you can unlock new things is stamina gated, but it's more of an incentive to take my time with the game rather than rush to grind everything out.

Don't expect me to start tearing up expert level charts anytime soon, though. My co-ordination isn't *that* good.
