For 2023, my prayers and plans are to be in the room with people who inform, inspire, and influence at a higher level, so that I can gain more knowledge on how to inform, inspire, and influence at a higher level.

Today I was in the room with one of those people, Memphis own best-selling author Tara M Stringfellow, as she discussed her book, cleverly titled “Memphis”

Yesterday I had the honor of having my book “The 5 R’s of Manhood” nominated in the inaugural Richard Wright Literary Awards ceremony, organized by Memphis Public Libraries and hosted by Action News 5 Meteorologist Brittney Bryant.

Not only was by book nominated, but it won me my first award as “Best Young Adult Nonfiction.”

Richard Wright became a prolific author in the mid-1900s, in which he often wrote about his upbringings in the south and racial inequality in America. He is most known for his autobiography “Black Boy”, and his novel “Native Son.” I am overjoyed to receive an award in honor of his literary works. Along with the award, my book will also become a part of the public library’s catalog. To GOD be the glory!
