Please give a warm welcome to Jennifer Morrison! Jennifer is a Yoga instructor, relationship coach, body worker, and dancer. She also happens to be a lovely, warm, open human being. Jennifer takes us through her journey from Taos, New Mexico, to Southwestern Wisconsin sharing with us her experiences and life lessons along the way. We talk about family and defining home, balancing how to follow your calling with the need to feel grounded, and continuing to find purpose and meaning and excitement for new things in middle age.

Please welcome Kirsten Layer to the Fire! Kirsten was one of the first friends I made when we moved to Viroqua and she's one of my favorite people I've ever met. The two of us could talk about almost anything but I thought it would be fun to start with a conversation about s*x education. Kirsten is the Healthy Relationships & S*x Ed teacher at Youth Initiative High School so we talk about our experiences with s*x ed when we were in school and how things have changed since then. We also talk about why Healthy Relationships is so important to emphasize when teaching s*x ed and how it is a detriment to both men and women when it's left out of the discussion.

Please give a warm “Welcome Back!” to Martha Buche. Martha was on the podcast last year and in many ways it felt like we barely scratched the surface of Parenting, Parent Development, and Child Development. In this episode we dive a little deeper into the authoritative and interpretive stages of parenting (early elementary school thru middle school), but we touch on a little bit of everything else, too. I share what I’m learning as I move through stages of parenting and we talk about the beauty and wisdom that is on the other side of parenting challenges.

**Martha is coming back for another episode (Part 2!) on Sunday so I’m re-releasing this episode in case you missed it the first time.

Martha Buche (or Ms. Martha as she’s affectionately known in our house) is here today! Oh my goodness could we all use a bit of Martha in our back pocket. Martha is an early childhood educator extraordinaire and she is here to talk about child development and parenting. We talk about what children need to grow and develop but also what parents need to grow and develop. It was such a fun, informative conversation and in many ways we barely scratched the surface. I’m already calling for a Part 2!

Happy New Year everyone and Welcome back to Women's Fire. I squeezed in a recording last week because it felt important and timely. My guest is Dina Yehia. Dina is from Egypt and has had a front row seat to the Isreali-Palestinian wars since she was a child. Dina now lives here in the Driftless area and is working with others in the region to promote the Palestinian perspective and calls for peace in the region as a member of Driftless Palestinian Solidarity. Dina shares her knowledge of history and current perspective of the conflict and what she thinks is the way forward. https://www.wdrt.org/womens-fire/

Vicky Reeves is a fellow female podcaster in the Driftless area, and also just so happens to be a delightful human being. Vicky shares with us her journey from being a Presbyterian elder by the age of 16, through Buddhism, to where she is now as a life coach and spiritually curious woman. We talk about burnout, how taking care of others starts with taking care of ourselves, and how embracing our pain points is the key to joy and love. I truly loved recording this episode and I hope you will love it, too. You can find out more about Vicky on her website: shinefreely.com

A warm, cozy welcome to Prudence Tippins! Prudence is here to talk about her journey through menopause. It was a transformative experience for her as she discovered the lack of information about this stage of a woman’s life and ended up doing a lot of research on her own. She shares gratitude for her journey along with information she wishes she would have known along the way. This is a really great conversation and I hope you all leave feeling informed and inspired.

Yay! Joy Miller is here everyone! Let’s give her a warm welcome. Joy is a farmer and owner of Keewaydin Farms in rural La Farge, WI. During COVID she began getting requests for people to be able to come out and be in nature at their property and these were the first seeds that were planted for what is now Driftless Curiosity. In the episode we talk about how Joy never saw herself as a farmer until she fell in love with one and how this role has left her with deep connection to the earth, one she wants to share with as many people as she can. For more information on the work Joy is doing in the world and how you can get involved you can check out driftlesscuriosity.org.

New episodes are up!

Welcome welcome welcome everyone!! It’s good to be back together with you. I’m so excited about this episode because it was just such a fun and sweet and honest conversation to record. In this episode Kaitlyn & Cassandra tell us about their journey to becoming parents. As anyone who has had to try to get pregnant using medical interventions will tell you it can be a long, emotionally draining process. Kaitlyn’s and Cassandra’s sense of humor and candid retelling of their story will make you feel less alone, and honestly, it gives me hope for the next generation that they are out there parenting in the world. This is a long episode and you won’t want to miss any of it, so get comfy and enjoy!

New episode 🔥
Please give a warm welcome to Nora! Nora is a large animal veterinarian here in rural Wisconsin and I wanted to have her on to talk about her experience as a woman in this field. In this episode we talk about what drew her to be a large animal vet, how she came to Wisconsin having grown up in a suburb of NYC, how becoming a mother brought her closer to the emotional life of the animals she works with, and how she and her husband work together to support their careers and be present parents.

Oh my gosh y'all... I'm finally releasing an episode after a very unintentional hiatus 🎉🔥

Welcome back to Women’s Fire everyone! I’m so glad to be getting back in the studio and making new episodes for you. My guest today is Erin Ford. Erin is an Afro-Indigenous q***r woman who spent 20 years doing advocacy work here in rural Wisconsin. She talks about her experience doing this work during contentious times and how it eventually led to her to move out of the region and closer to a city, where she felt she would have more impact. This conversation was recorded in June 2022. Thank you to Erin for letting me re-release it as part of Women’s Fire.
This is also a reminder that is this Saturday 🏳️‍🌈

Welcome to another Women’s Fire! I’m very excited about my guest today because it’s not often I get to geek out over relationships with someone. Denise is a relationship coach and today we talk about her work with couples seeking long term relationships and our own experiences with our partners of over 20 years. Denise shares with us some foundational work she does with couples and we discuss why long term relationships can be hard but are totally worth it. I just know that every listener is going to walk away with some nuggets they can use in their own life. You can learn more about Denise and the work she does at www.connectedcouple.com

Please welcome our local Naturopathic doctor to the fire! Dr. Gustafson is here today to talk about her passion for naturopathic medicine and her journey to become a naturopathic doctor. We discuss how her own chronic health issues as a young adult started her on her journey and how she works within a culture of Western medicine. We also talk about how doctors of natural medicine differ from at-home herbalists and why many of her patients start by seeking her out as a last resort for chronic issues traditional medicine hasn’t been able to help.

*Trigger Warning*- In this episode we discuss the topic of s*x trafficking and child s*xual abuse

Sarah Caldwell reached out to me saying she felt called to tell her story in a more public way and she thought my platform would be a safe space to do so. Sarah has been on a healing journey for over 20 years as a survivor of s*x trafficking and child s*xual abuse. In this episode Sarah talks about her emotionally abusive home life and how that left her seeking love and affection which made her a target for s*xual predators. Sarah also talks about how she removed herself from that traumatic situation and how she’s been finding her way to health and healing along the way. I admire Sarah for telling her story in the hopes others can find healing in their own trauma journeys. Let's give her a warm welcome to the fire circle 🔥

Celina, part 2
Celina is here for a follow up conversation about what she’s been up to for the past year and a half. Celina talks about becoming a mother of two, how Harry Potter helped her through her first month post-partum, her years long experience of taking her s*x abuser to trial, love & loss, and how the pressure to attachment parent can cause more harm than good. It’s a little bit of everything and a whole lot of love.

Happy Sunday everyone! A new episode is out today, just in time for spring 🌷
My first today is Celina Dykstra. I know the term “Unicorn” gets thrown around quite a bit these days, but I don’t throw it around w***y nilly. In fact, when I think of unicorns I know in my life I think Celina is the only one. As she’ll tell you herself, Celina can’t help but be honest and authentic at all times. This episode is from when Celina was my guest on Conversations. She was my first guest because I can’t help but feel comfortable around her and I knew she’d be up for whatever the conversation became. In this episode we get to know Celina, how she decided what type of person she wanted to be, and we talk about her work around her relationship with food. This is part one of a two part episode. Stay tuned next week when I talk to Celina about becoming a mom of two and how Harry Potter got her through her first month postpartum.
