Praise God that he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness! He has brought us into the kingdom of his Son!

In his Son, Jesus, we have forgiveness of sins; in Christ we have redemption.

What is wisdom? A good summary of the character of wisdom is found in Proverbs 8. Give it a read!

If you want to follow the Lord and please him in this life, you will need this wisdom. Wondering how you can get it? The answer is in James:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” - James 1:5-8

Wisdom is from the Lord. Ask him for it! Ask in faith, for without faith it is impossible to please him, and remember that you are asking the God who “gives generously to all without reproach.”

In the dark // In the darkest nights the light of Jesus has shone brightest, though not always tangible like I want. I don’t always feel it, I don’t always hear it, I sometimes doubt it, but I know that his presence is still with me because he promises in his Word that he will never leave me nor forsake me

He’s always reminding me of his presence and leading me down the right path. Whether it’s through his Word, exhortations from others, or signs in the night. He’s answering prayer. He’s fulfilling his promises.

I don’t always get the answer I want. Sometimes I get the answer and it’s followed by discouragement and setback. No matter, he has the perfect plan and ultimately works all things for our good and his glory.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” - Isaiah 55:8-9

Do you love Christ? Keep his commands. The Spirit is in you and gives you the strength to obey.

As you love Christ, you will love others also.

“Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.” - 1 John‬ ‭2:4-6‬ ‭ESV

I don’t know what your Monday has been like, but it was a new day regardless.

Don’t drag the weight of what happened yesterday into today with you. Don’t drag the weight of today into tomorrow with you.

Every time the sun rises, God’s mercies are new again. Every time you open your eyes after dark, there is new opportunity, to change, to grow, to learn and to love.

Some days just plain suck. Give it to God. He makes all things new, so live out that truth; He is not done with you and every moment moving forward is another chance to be lead by Him into His plan for your life.

Stop your walking for a moment. Stop your thinking, your worrying, your partying, whatever you’re doing.

Have an honest conversation, not with yourself, but with God. Do you feel he’s been holding out on you? Not giving you what you ask for? Not showing you what to do or where to go in this season of your life?

Maybe it’s not about that decision. Maybe it’s not about knowing what to do. Maybe it’s not about having control over those things you’re worrying about. Maybe instead it’s about giving all of that up.

Jesus did say that if anyone wants to follow him he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow him (Matthew 16:24). That’s hard. I’m sure you don’t want to die and take up a torture device, you want to live your best life and not worry about things, right?

Here’s the next verse: “For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” - Matthew 16:25

It’s not about taking your destiny in your hands and having all the answers for your life. It’s about giving it all up and following the one who is Life.
