N E W N A M E ✨

I mentioned that the focus on my account is shifting and it only makes sense that my handle should represent that shift too!

So after 2.5 years of sharing and connecting as "She's Just a Mom" it's time to say hello to 𝙃𝙚𝙧 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙎𝙏𝙔𝙇𝙀!

I'm still the same old me and my primary reason for being here is still to connect, encourage and spread a little light wherever I can! I'll simply be sharing a bit more about my everyday life... And how I style it 😉

IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE... ✨

I had no intention of sharing this, it's just something that's been on my mind and that I've shared with a close friend or two, but I figured I may as well share where I'm at with all of you!

For the past 2 months I've felt a pull away from parenting-focused content. I've been cherishing my time with my family, holding the moments and the images close, and feeling reluctant to share about my boys.

There's no specific reason for this, but I just know that it's time for me to make a change. My boys and motherhood will always filter through onto my page, one way or another, because that's who I am! But the focus is shifting.

So things may look different (including my handle soon) and you'll be seeing more of my personal content and things I enjoy. It might not be for everyone and that's okay too! But I'm excited to post again, which gives me peace about this change...

So if you're here for it, then I can't wait to keep sharing with you!

Start simple ✨

I love a great, basic outfit, because it can easily become the base for a number of exciting looks!

Start with a handful of go-to, simple ensembles that you know work for you. From there you can play with adding to them, or mixing them up, to create a fun wardrobe!

A few highlights from this look:

✨ If you like the idea of a crop top, but don't want to show too much skin, pair a waist-length crop with high-waisted bottoms! You still create a cropped look, without feeling uncomfortable.

✨ Paperbag pants/shorts are flattering on most body types, accentuating your waist (whether you have one or not.) This pair is elasticated, so it fits well and is super comfy.

✨ I didn't accessorise this outfit much, but add some earrings, heels and an oversized lightweight blazer and this look is great for drinks, dinner dates, the office, you name it!

S O M E T H I N G N E W ✨

I feel like it's time for me to post a bit more about things that I enjoy alongside motherhood, so I'm considering posting a "look of the week!"

You will not see Gucci, Versace or Chanel here. My looks are wearable and my style is accessible. I'll simply pick one of my outfits from the week that has past.

Perhaps it will be a little more dressed up, perhaps it will be a mom-look, but it'll be real. And who knows, maybe it'll inspire you to try something new?

So I need some honest input... Are you here for the occasional real-life look? ✨

The truth about my "holiday"...

I took a week off from social media with the intention of relaxing, reading, spending quality time with my family and enjoying the beach!

Pretty much as soon as I turned off Insta, Lukas became very ill with what seemed like baby measles. A few days later, Louw fell ill too.

Between horrific fevers, rashes and vomiting, there wasn't much time for my fun to-do list. So no, I didn't have what might have seemed like an ideal beach vacay.

But I did spend time with my family and I did manage to read a bit, with sleeping babies on my lap. It could have been worse.

So now that we're home and the boys are better, we'll just have to make the most of what's left of the school holidays!

The next week is filled with family celebrations, including hubby's birthday AND Lukas' 1st birthday (can you believe it?!)

So I'll be signing off and will be back in 2023, hopefully feeling refreshed and ready for a beautiful new year.

Our "not so secret" secret to this big smile...

These photos were snapped 2 months ago at a family get together and since then, Lukas has only become more attached to me. It's mama or nobody!

Cue my secret weapon: our hip seat. He can snuggle close and I can get things done. It has basically become a permanent attachment 😂

I even use it when I pop into the shops and I'm always getting comments about how happy and comfy Lukas looks!

Weekend photo dump

I read a book for the first time in 3 years (I used to be a bookworm) and when I wasn't reading I was simply enjoying my family.

I didn't even miss Instagram while I was away, even though I do love this space. But the break was just what I needed.

OUT OF OFFICE... ✨

We're taking a long weekend and will be recharging seaside!

I'll also be taking a social media break, deleting my IG app for a few days and soaking in some quality time with my family.

Who knows, I might even read a book!

I did a thing!

Now before anyone comes at me, I didn't do it because I was tired of being blonde, I actually loved my platinum hair!

But after nearly 5 years of bleaching and having 2 babies, my hair was getting really brittle and needed a break (weird pun, but you know what I mean)

So I've gone back to my roots, literally! This change actually triggered quite a bit of introspection, but that's a story for another post 😉

For now, I'll just leave these photos here so we can get used to my new look...

A brand new play area, using only 1 new item!

sent us this gorgeous monochrome playmat and I just knew I wanted to create a special area for the boys, but our space is just so limited.

I set up the mat in a random area, next to our dining area, just to look at it and suddenly inspiration hit! I realised that we were seriously under utilising this room!

All I added was an old bookshelf turned on its side and a basket for the soft toys and voilà!

This kid is living for adventure and making it impossible for his mama to take cute photos 😂

I really wanted to showcase this gorgeous little outfit sent to us by , along with these adorable leather sandals. But I had to take all the photos on the go, because Lukas is a busy boy!

Hopefully you'll get an idea of the beautiful quality of these products. The fabric is so soft and this pale sage colour is just dreamy. And don't even get me started on the cutesy sandals!

And the results are in...

Lukas went for his skin prick allergy tests this morning and they came back clear! Which means it's time to start reintroducing the allergens into my diet and then his.

Unfortunately he might still have the digestive reactions that he had before (cramps, upset tummy, blood in his diaper etc.) but we're trusting that his system has matured enough to handle it better now. There's only one way to find out!

So here's to having a little more fun with our food journey! I think we'll celebrate with a bit of sushi... WITH soy sauce 😏

A reminder to myself, for the sake of my child.

This week, out of the blue, Louw gave me a hug and said "I miss you." My heart broke, because the truth is I miss him too. We miss our time together, just the two of us.

In that moment I decided to do something for him. I told him I was packing a surprise picnic that we could enjoy together. He excitedly waited in the lounge, playing with Lukas, while I packed a few of his favourite snacks and one or two things for myself and Lukas too.

I set it up outside and called him to open the picnic basket. He gasped a big "Wow!" and started unpacking his treasures. He was thrilled, as if I had given him the most elaborate gift!

We sat together enjoying our picnic. We weren't alone, Lukas was on my lap so he didn't wreck the picnic, but Louw didn't mind at all. He knew the picnic was just for him and that my attention was fully his.

So this is a reminder to myself that I don't have to wait for a scheduled date, or time alone with Louw. Those are great, but they are too few and far between.

Sometimes something as simple as a little picnic and my full attention are enough to make my little boy's heart soar. His heart and mine 🤍

Instagram vs reality

I've said it before, I prefer my reality!

Also, my reality is way more manageable with my . Look at that delicious nap that Lukas took at , with crashing waves around him... He didn't even notice!

We also climbed A LOT of stairs. He didn't bat an eyelid and I didn't feel any strain. We all won!

Wedding photo dump. Except not...

Guys, I didn't really take photos! I was too busy being swept up in the beauty of this incredible wedding, so photos took a backseat, and I don't regret it.

Lesson in progress!

Lukas and I were invited to join our nearest class and we had an absolute blast!

is a baby stimulation class, where you get to enjoy quality one-on-one time with your bubs while they learn and develop.

Although, Lukas wasn't very interested in me at all 😂 he was all business and totally focused on each activity. He was also very intrigued by the other babas!

I am so looking forward to next week's class! Just seeing Lukas' little face, filled with wonder and excitement with each new activity and discovery, is enough to make this mama heart melt!

There's no stopping him now!

That's right, this past weekend Lukas mastered crawling and is now very mobile. He also started waving and saying "tata", "mamma" and "pappa" more intentionally, so his little mind is in overdrive! 😅

Gone are the days of finding him where I left him, but we're so proud of him. Just a little sad to see another bit of our baby days slip away 🥺

My best friend is getting married and the next two weeks will be filled with preparations and celebrations!

My most important prep is to build up a milk stash for while I'm away from Lukas. I'm using my Milk It wearable breast pump from and thought I'd share more details about the pump itself:

I forgot to add that there are obviously exceptions to Louw's sleep, where he needs more assistance to sleep, or the occasional contact nap... Which is all fine! He's not a machine and I love being the one who helps him and comforts him when he needs it. .
