You can stuff your past into a bag and carry it around as it gets heavier. Or you can open the bag and examine the contents. Maybe you don't need to keep all of it. Maybe there's something useful that you forgot you're storing. If you look, you will see, then understand. And once you accept what you see, you might just find yourself in a fulfilling relationship. With yourself.
The process looks different for everyone, and there is no finish line. The guests on our podcast share their authentic ways in conversations. You can listen to those if you click

A journaling prompt: imagine anything could make you money. As long as it's what you're truly good at. Write about a business venture where you would be practicing what you excel at. Unlearn what others have told you you are great at. And look at what you know you are amazing at. Then write about who your 'clients' would be. Do you wish to serve them? Well you don't have to charge anyone yet, or ever. If you enjoy giving, you will be receiving. Might not be money. But sharing what you have an abundance of will attract other people's abundance. And this flow of energy is capable of inspiring you to find new and more fulfilling ways to earn an income.

Accepting oneself is a reoccurring theme in our podcast conversations. You can find them through relatingtoself.com . A couple of guests mention doing shadow work, which is a powerful tool for accepting ourselves and others. We haven't gone into it in depth though. Drawing from various sources can help avoid misconceptions. And our inbox is open for audience questions for our podcast.

For this journal session, describe your ideal retirement years. When you are living off of savings and/or passive income. Who would still be there with you, what people do you hope to have attracted; where would you live and what would you own; what would you do with your time and how well would your body be handling what you do and want to do... Anything that you write about that you already have is likely important to you. What you don't yet have can be used as a direction. Look what you can do in the present moment to cultivate and maintain what is important to you. Repeat each moment to cultivate and maintain mindfulness.

For this journaling session, let's use some help from your favorite poet or song writer. Begin by describing yourself as objectively as you can. You may choose to praise, critique or anything in between and beyond. Just make sure it aligns with how you feel about you. Once you're done, channel the artist that came to mind initially. If they were to write about you, what would they say? Imagine them being in love with you. What would they compare you to; how would they be talking about the things you are most insecure about; what might they focus on that you often overlook?

A regular journaling practice is one way to take care of your mind. For this session, simply write about your day. The thoughts that came up but didn't seem to fit the situation. Thoughts you had that you don't feel comfortable saying out loud for whatever reason. All that you held on to during the day. Let it out on the paper. You might like to read it out loud in private. Or burn it. Maybe even read it to somebody close to you. But do write for yourself and as if nobody will ever see.

Try to write a list in your journal. But take a look through your contacts as well. There might be some people in your phone or social media, email even. People who make you feel loved and appreciated. But not meeting them in person could cloud their existence in your mind. Add them to the list. They might be just as happy to hear from you again.

Here's a new theme for a journal entry: Things that offend me. Write about what people do or say that makes you angry. Make a list, elaborate when needed, take some time and add to it. Look into the items on the list then. Try to identify what arouses the negative emotions. And, if you feel ready, ask yourself if there isn't part of you that has those urges. One that you repress and hide, even from yourself. When you feel open to having this conversation with yourself, you may want to look into shadow work and what Carl Jung had to say about the shadow self.

Think of a situation you were in, that had somebody standing up for what they believe in. Which was something that also resonated with you. Tell that story to your journal. Reflect on your reaction, whether you stood up with them, how you felt about them afterwards, how inspired you were or not... Speculate also about what it would take for you to be the person standing up next time.

This is the journaling prompt for today. But before you write those words down, think about how long you took to come up with the answer. Less than 3 seconds and it's an instinctive answer, likely conditioned by what you've been told. Make sure you put down what you genuinely see yourself as.

Think back to a time when you were in a low place emotionally. If you know your ways to pull yourself out, write them down in your journal. If not, it is vital that you have a safe rope within yourself. This can be quite difficult to figure out. Write instead, an affirming and compassionate letter to your distraught self. And pull it out when needed.
