🤔 🤔 🤔 Do you believe in love at first sight? 🤔 🤔 🤔

That's the dream, of course.

It's in SOOOOO many rom-coms.

😮 Confession time 😮

When I went with my gut, I was wrong.

EVERY TIME!!!

What do I mean by "wrong"?

I ended up with different versions of the same abusive relationship I left.

So when they say, "Go with your gut," I say instead, "only if I want to get my heart and spirit broken."

It happened so often it was predictable. 🤦🏻‍♀️

He's great, educated, accomplished, no red flags within the first few dates.

Then we move too fast, he's all of a sudden too busy to text unless it's late at night and he wants to "stop by" (Dude, I have kids. No).

I wanted off this roller coaster BAD!!!

So I decided to think with my head and heart and not my "instinct".

I wrote a list of the things I absolutely needed. The first list looked like this:
- Smart
- Good parent (definition pending)
- Integrity (does what he says, says what he does)
- Good with money
- Caring
- Does the things that Steve Harvey says a guy does when he's into you

I then went into Match and looked at the guys I wasn't immediately attracted to.

Not playing that tired song again! Nope.

I looked for the quiet guys.

No fish pics. Or gun pics.

The guys that had not much in their profiles. (Just the facts, ma'am)

And started chatting on Match with 5 of them.

I ended up going on 1 coffee date.

Great guy! Lots in common.

We start dating.

But he told me up front he wasn't going to introduce me to his daughters. Or invite me to his house.

Even I know that means the relationship isn't going to make it in the long run.

We broke up as friends. (He still checks on me in LinkedIn)

Then I started my process again with a new batch of 5 guys.

Went on one coffee date.

He is now my husband. (Ok, we got married years after, but you get the point)

Was it love at first sight. No.

But I was intrigued.

For me it helped because I wasn't tempted to move too fast.

Until I really wanted to. 😉

Attraction is not a problem for us at all.

And neither is him being like my ex.

I got everything on my list and more.

That's a long story to say that love at first sight didn't work for me, because I was still acting on unresolved trauma instead of what was best for me and what I really wanted.

But when I took the time and focused on the right things, I got what I wanted.

And so did he. ❤️❤️❤️

I still love "Sleepless in Seattle".

But I think it's bunk.

It's just not that easy.
