It's finally here, and it's real! The DC Versus Marvel Omnibus is out! As one of the most highly anticipated collected editions in recent years, it brings me excitement and joy to finally see this collaborative project finally all together in the Omnibus format!

I am looking forward to taking a deep dive into these astounding crossovers with our favorite comic book characters. First up, Spider-Man vs. Superman, let's go!

Happy Halloween! It's our 70th podcast episode, and what better way to celebrate than with our spooky season read. This year, we took a pop culture retro dive into the highly acclaimed The Walking Dead Series created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, published by in October of 2003. We review the first compendium volume covering the first 48 issues of the series. We discuss the comic book vs the tv show adaptation, the art styles, notable characters, and the interesting dynamics of surviving in a zombie post - apocalyptic world.

Recent Reads: Absolute Wonder Woman by George Pérez
While this was my 2nd attempt to read this collected edition, I'm glad I made the effort. It was a masterpiece. When George gets in the groove of locking in his story telling to pair with his already phenomenal art, it really makes a great rebirth for the character in the 80s. The movies take a of inspirational from his historic run. However, reading for the first time in the DC Absolute format really highlights the art and colors that this creative team was able to accomplish. Also, Pérez takes time building out his vision of Greek mythology while forming a strong support cast with unique villains is brilliant. Sometimes, coming back to a book is refreshing and gives you a new sense of appreciation for this heroic character.

I would definitely recommend this book to readers who want to know the best starting place to read Wonder Woman, but love 80s comics storytelling. Now, to finish the rest of the run in the Omnibus format.

Recent Reads: Batman: City of Madness by
Happy belated Batman Day! I was up all night finishing this modern spooky Batman Graphic Novel and it was super cool. Batman meets Call of Cuthu, I'm here for it and Christian Ward pulls out all the stops for this one. The art is phenomenal, and use of color in this graphic novel to enhance the scene that brings chaotic nature of the story is truly amazing. Also, the use of narration from Batman parried against the brilliant choices of villains from his rogues gallery was great. Even though there were some points I had to connect the dots with I still recommend checking out this amazing story.

Recent Reads: X-Men Inferno Omnibus. Finally, a major milestone in my Omnibus reading goal is achieved. After more than 2 years from the start of Uncanny Vol 1 to Inferno, it is 11 Omnis long to complete. However, it is well worth it. Diving into this X-men experience has been a great journey, especially as a fan of the animated series to read the comics for the first time.

When the podcast began as a radio show, I thought Inferno was terrible as a stand-alone trade paperback. I couldn't understand what happened or how we got there. It was until I read this Omnibus and had the entire event collected along with reading all the past collected editions to truly understand how good this event truly was. 👏 I appreciate how it collects all the New Mutants, X-Terminators, X Factor, and Uncanny X-Men issues to truly have a good flow of the event. Although the crossover issues outside of the xmen related titles were hardly connected, having them there was nice to see how the Marvel Universe reacted to it. My favorite crossovers were the various Spider-Man titles, Excalibur, Daredevil, and strangly Fantastic Four. Also, Mr. Sinister is a favorite villain of mine, and to see Madelyn Pryor evolve was brilliant storytelling.

I wouldn't recommend this to a new reader,but if you are an invested fan of X-Men, I'd highly suggest checking it out. Chris Clairmont and his creative teams did a phenomenal job building up to this major event in X-Men history.

Recent Reads: Daredevil by Omnibus Review. Great fun, yet a meaningful comic book run on The Man Without Fear. Following up from the Mark Waid DD run, Soule gives the character a lot of depth and character development, especially featuring a Punisher crossover, Spider-Man, Electra, and many street level heroes we root for. Really making him feel a part of the Marvel Universe in New York. Also, he begins mentoring Blindspot, which was an interesting supporting character that really makes Murdock wise and yet very human. All of the artists on this book, especially , really brought their A Game while creating unique looks and dramatic action for this amazing character. Finally challenging Daredevil with some of the greatest rivalries in history and finding new ways to breakground was brilliant. As a Daredevil fan, I highly recommend this Omnibus and look forward to finally checking out the epic Chip Zdarsky run.

Recent Reads: Transformers vol 1 Robots in Disguise by and . Wow! Of course, this incredible team knocked this out of the park. Put this on your 2024. You must read the list if you're a Transformers fan. If you're a long-standing fan, just saw the movies or any of the TV shows you can jump into the book, no problem.
Daniel Warren Johnson does a phenomenal job of making this feel like a cinematic experience while still investing in a down to earth story that truly has you caring about the entire cast of heroes. He also does an excellent job of capturing Starscream's voice and while he's a great villain to open with and be the near perfect foil to Optimus Prime. Also, this creative team went above and beyond with these panel shots in this book. So much variety, great easy to follow action, super nice close-up shots it, it has it all.

This book reminded me how proud I am to be a fan of the Transformers franchise, and to see Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spice accomplish this vision for volume 1 is incredible. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Happy Star Wars Weekend Everyone! I hope you were able to revist your favorite movie, show, or cosplayed with your adventuring party out in a galaxy near you. This weekend, as I was doing some self care, I decided to read Star Wars Tales as my way of celebrating the Star Wars Fandom. I read 3 volumes of Star Wars Tales vol 1-3. These are an anthology of Star Wars comics in the universe published in 1999-2003 era by when they had the rights to publish the comics at the time.

These stories were from all eras of the prequel and original trilogy with a little in universe flavor thrown in. These creative teams had so much wisdom and imagination to tell tales that were based on only a few lines of dialogue or what happened between the movies or before episode 1 or after episode 6 with the New Republic era.This gave them a chance to virtually tell any adventure with any in-universe character they could think of. It was a time when we didn't have to debate whether it was canon or not, just appreciate it for what it is and why we like Star Wars so much. It's such a fun series to read, and I look forward to reading the next 3 volumes soon.
