Kemi Badenoch SHUTS DOWN Chris Bryant Over Gender Debate
While Badenoch demonstrated both political bravery and an iron grip on her brief, the same could not be said of her detractors across the chamber. Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant solemnly declared that her words had made him – a fully grown man – feel ‘less safe’. She hit back with force, challenging him to identify which words precisely were so problematic. She later criticised the attempts of trans activists to use emotional blackmail to try to shut down debate.
Bryant’s colleague, Sir Ben Bradshaw, also failed to get the better of Badenoch. He complained the UK had recently fallen in a set of international rankings on LGBT rights. She calmly pointed out that those rankings reward states that adopt the Stonewall-supported policy of self-ID and punish those who do not. To cheers from the Tory benches, she declared ‘Stonewall does not decide the law in this country’.
A lot changed yesterday. An area of politics that is too often dismissed as ‘toxic’, where many fear to tread, was dragged into the sunlight of open debate – something that trans activists have always feared. Gender ideology now stands exposed for what it is – as a threat to the rights of women and of gay people.
‘No debate’ was born in 2015. It died in December 2023. Its last rites were administered by Kemi Badenoch.

.Costa Coffee defends trans mural image that 'celebrates diversity' after calls for boycott
Costa Coffee is facing calls for a boycott from some people over a Pride mural celebrating diversity and inclusion.
The image is from a design made for the company's Brighton and Hove store for LGBT+ Pride last year.
It was shared on Twitter and has since sparked calls for a boycott of the coffee chain.
he drawing depicts a trans-masculine person sipping a coffee topless.
The picture shows chest scars which are common among trans men (someone who is assigned female at birth but identifies and lives as a man) who opt to have top surgery.
Top surgery, or a double mastectomy, is a surgical procedure that removes breast tissue.
Children cannot get this kind of surgery in the UK.
Waiting lists for adults, referred through NHS gender identity services, stand at a minimum of five years for an initial appointment before further assessments and an eventual referral for surgery.
'Accessing healthcare as a transgender man felt like a battle'
Transgender patients waiting years for first appointment at NHS gender clinics
Since the image was shared #BoycottCostaCoffee has been trending on Twitter.
Critics say the inclusion of a person with chest scars puts children at risk by "glorifying and promoting" this type of surgery.
Others say the reaction to the image is transphobic and are using the hashtag to thank Costa Coffee for representing them and promoting inclusion.
Indeed, the company has defended the image.
In a statement, Costa Coffee told ITV News: "At Costa Coffee we celebrate the diversity of our customers, team members and partners.
"We want everyone that interacts with us to experience the inclusive environment that we create, to encourage people to feel welcomed, free and unashamedly proud to be themselves. The mural, in its entirety, showcases and celebrates inclusivity."
RISHI BREAKS LAW WALKING DOG WITH NO LEAD IN ROYAL PARK
A TikTok shared over the weekend has brought attention to some law breaking behaviour from Rishi Sunak. During a leisurely dog walk in Hyde Park, Rishi’s pooch, called Nova, was spotted wandering freely. Despite clear signposting saying dogs must be kept on leads.
It was only after Sunak saw that he was being filmed – signposting in view – that he sought to lead from the front. Section 3(5)(b) of the Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997 states:
“No person using a Park shall- fail to keep any animal of which he is in charge under control or on a lead – in contravention of a notice exhibited by order of the Secretary of State”
Rishi was clearly out of Paw-der.
The serious problems with off leash dogs mauling and killing wildlife means, according to a spokesperson for the Royal Parks, that owners could face criminal prosecution for failing to control their dogs which can result in fines or community orders. After already receiving fixed penalty notices for coronavirus violations and failing to wear a seatbelt, Rishi is risking his rule breaking rap sheet getting longer…

ELON MUSK CLASHES WITH BBC REPORTER OVER TWITTER “HATE SPEECH”
Elon Musk sat down with BBC reporters last night in a Twitter Spaces interview to clear the air over his recent decision to label the Corporation as “government-funded” and discuss the prevalence of “hate speech” – however loosely defined – on the platform. It went about as smoothly as you’d expect.
BBC tech reporter James Clayton claimed he’d seen more hate speech on the app since Musk took over, to which Musk inevitably asked for specific examples. For some reason, Clayton couldn’t quite recall any – instead claiming he’d seen “hateful content” on the new “For You” recommendation page, though he no longer uses that feature so isn’t exposed to it anymore. Right. Musk wasn’t having it:
“I say sir that you don’t know what you are talking about… because you cannot give me a single example of hateful content, not even one tweet. You claimed that hateful content is high. That is false, you just lied… that is absurd.”
Musk then went on the attack over the BBC’s coverage of the UK government’s Covid policies, to which Clayton was equally lost for words…
LEFTIE LAWYER THORNBERRY CAN’T EXPLAIN LABOUR’S POSITION ON HOUSING MIGRANTS IN BARRACKS
Emily Thornberry found herself squirming on Question Time last night when asked about Labour’s stance on the government’s plans to house asylum seekers in barracks. Even after multiple questions from Fiona Bruce, the Shadow Attorney General couldn’t clarify Labour’s position:
FB: Do Labour support or object to the idea of using barracks to house asylum seekers?
ET: *huffs* I mean, I think that, as I say, I think that it’s not actually – what I- what I object to with the use of barracks is that it’s going to be used as an add on to the hotels. So it’s not a solution to the hotels
FB: So in principle, you don’t have a problem with asylum seekers being housed in barracks?
ET: I don’t have a problem with people being treated humanely…
Guido does have sympathy for Thornberry and the rest of the Labour Party. Pretending to be tough on immigration is difficult for a party full of leftie London lawyers.

RISHI DELAYS PETROL CAR BAN, ROLLS BACK NET ZERO PLEDGES
Sunak’s Friday speech was moved last minute to this afternoon after his Net Zero rollback was leaked last night. The speech opened with what felt like a mission statement for the looming election – along with another shot at his predecessors:
“The climate change committee has rightly said you don’t reach net zero just by wishing it, but that’s what previous governments have done, both Labour and Conservative.”
Amid much chatter…
Here are the key changes:
Petrol and diesel car ban delayed by five years to 2035, buy and sell second hand. Aligning with Europe…
Transition to heat pumps switch will be forced only when buying a new boiler, and from 2035.
Boiler upgrade scheme grant upped to £7,500.
Upcoming property energy efficiency requirements scrapped.
Future 7-bin requirement scrapped.
No new flight tax.
No ban on oil and gas in the North Sea.
Rishi’s thinking: “I care about reaching Net Zero by 2050 but on the current path, we risk losing the consent of British people.” Guido is looking forward to the aftermath…
Kate Forbes apologises 'unequivocally' for revealing views on gay marriage
Finance Secretary Kate Forbes has defended her controversial comments surrounding gay marriage as she looks to become Scotland's first minister. Louise Scott reports
An MSP hoping to replace Nicola Sturgeon as Scotland's first minister has apologised for offending the LGBT+ community with her views on gay marriage and insisted her campaign to lead the SNP is still alive.
Kate Forbes, who revealed on Monday she would have voted against gay marriage had she the chance, told ITV News: "I unequivocally apologise for any hurt and offence that has been caused.
"I absolutely defend people's right in this country to marry, as they've been able to do for the past nine years."
Ms Forbes was very briefly the favourite to succeed Ms Sturgeon after throwing her hat into the leadership race, until she revealed, in a number of interviews, her views of "marriage being between a man and a woman".
Asked by Channel 4 if she would have voted against gay marriage, had she been elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2014 when the legislation was approved, she said: "I would have."
Shortly after, a number of early supporters of her campaign withdrew their backing.
These included: public finance minister Tom Arthur, minister for children Clare Haughey, and health committee convener Gillian Martin.
Ms Martin said she was "uncomfortable" reading the comments, before adding: "We must be full-throated in our support of equal marriage. No if or buts. I won’t be supporting Kate’s campaign on that basis. I wish her well- she’s extremely talented. But I have red lines. And this is one."
Finance Secretary Ms Forbes, a member of the Free Church of Scotland, asked by BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland programme if her campaign was over before it began, she replied: “Absolutely not. We have a large party membership, most of whom are not on Twitter.
“I understand people have very strong views on these matters. I think the public are longing for politicians to answer straight questio
TRUSS BLASTS CRITICS IN FIERCE PRO-GROWTH RALLYING CRY
Truss obviously had her Weetabix this morning.
As the one year anniversary of her mini-Budget looms, the former PM unloaded a salvo of attacks on her critics, taking aim at the BBC, the civil service, former Bank of England Governor Mark Carney, the Labour Party, and even the anti-growth MPs on her own party’s benches. She’s got a book out in April for more details…
Much of the speech was the familiar Truss routine: she conceded that she was in rush to deliver change, and she not only wanted to “fatten the pig” but also rear and slaughter it on the same day. She added that “voters want to see change“, and the Tories’ widening polling deficit is the proof in the pudding. It is worth pointing out, as Fraser Nelson did last week, that whilst the adults are supposedly back in the room, the economy is no better…
This point is not lost on Liz, as she pointed out during the Q&A:
“I do want to challenge the phrase ‘crashed the economy’. The fact is that since I left office, both mortgage rates and gilt rates have gone higher than they were at the time of the mini-budget. I just think you are repeating a line to take from the Labour Party…”
She also called on the government once again to slash taxes across the board. Words likely to fall on the deaf ears of the Chancellor… whom she appointed.
FORBES HAMMERS HUMZA IN SCRAPPY SNP LEADERSHIP DEBATE
The first televised leadership debate of the SNP leadership, held in Glasgow, lived up to its host city’s pugnacious reputation. Kate Forbes kicked off the STV debate off with an attack line that wouldn’t be out of place in a party-political broadcast for the Conservative Party:
“Humza you’ve had a number of jobs in government. When you were Transport Minister, the trains were never on time. When you were Justice Minister, the police were strained to braking point. Now, as Health Minister, we’ve got record high waiting times.”
Humza hit back with a jab at Forbes’ inexperience, “I know you haven’t had a delivery job in government. I’ve had three”. A reminder – they belong to the same government.
The fireworks didn’t end there. Humza asked Regan, in the context of her plan to dissolve the coalition with the Greens, “how on earth can you call yourself a unifier?”. Yousaf also suggested Forbes’ treasury had left health “short-changed” as Ash called out the others’ “wishy-washy” approach to independence. Forbes managed to find yet another opportunity to take on her own government, saying more of the same would be an “acceptance of mediocrity”.
The debate also touched on economic policies, as Regan described Forbes’ platform as “trickle-down economics, which has of course been discredited”. In response, Kate made her case that, “we need to ensure that through a growing economy… we ensure that we are reinvesting in our public services, and ultimately creating well-paying jobs”. By going for growth and taking the SNP to task, Guido is in the rare position of finding it difficult to disagree with an SNP politician. After the night’s proceedings, there was one winner who came out head and shoulders above the rest – the unionist cause.
