Failing is only a result you can learn from.

I’ve been on a journey to speak to as many people as I can fit in the last few weeks.

One thing that has been said again and again when we start to talk about business is “I tried that, it didn’t work” when we would get into what are demonstrated best practices.

Things like offering financing, warranty, IAQ on EVERY CALL will grow your business and help to build value (just an example). If you aren’t getting the results you want, learn from your results and change your approach. Don’t abandon the opportunities.

You don’t get fit going to the gym 5 times and giving up. You don’t grow a profitable business that way either!

I believe in pushing yourself and getting outside of your comfort zone.

As many of you know, creating a podcast was a new venture for me 2.5 months ago. I started the podcast in an interview style format and will continue to create those with some great guests coming up! However once I got comfortable with that I wanted to push myself to create some solo podcasts. Talking about important topics to our industry.

Got a chance to sit down with Michael Ridler yesterday.

Michael started his career in a family run HVAC company over 20 years ago that still is in operation to this day. Michael is the Technical Services Manager at Eden Energy Equipment and is responsible for mentoring and advising the technical support team. He also is focused on providing field support and technical training for contractors, engineers and builders across Ontario on heat pumps, boilers and hydronics.

Michael is passionate about learning new things and building relationships with industry stakeholders in HVAC both new and old. First and foremost he is a family man who lives to set an example of positivity, mentorship and empowering the people around him.

I spent many years as a technician, and then traveling business person in the Industry not paying attention to or . The last few years I've taken many steps forward (and back) to find what was right for me after decades of being sluggish, tired and sick.

We as an industry need to talk about and promote health and wellness more. Pizza, Donuts, Energy Drinks are staples in the training and events we hold.
