Proof I do get my machines muddy sometimes

Friday workouts.

Lawn care has been one of the main solutions I have provided to my clients since day one.

Up until 2018, I had done all the weekly lawn care myself. With business expansion and beginning another business, I had to delegate the lawn care to others.

At the beginning of this season, I was left with no options other than to jump back into doing it myself.

Even though there are far more big daily problems for me to solve and an insane amount more responsibilities on me, I needed to invest the time one day a week to serve the lawn care needs.

The only way I could do it was to change my mindset. I no longer looked at it as mowing or lawn care, it became my workout.

It’s a day once a week where I can be outside hustling, pushing, working out. It’s a workout because I average 28-34k steps each workout day.

Don’t get me wrong, with the weight of the world working to crush me, it’s one of the last things I want to do each week. Yet, I must do it.

There are times in life where I really don’t want to do things, that’s where I have to lean in and just get them done.

Real talk, yesterday was the first time this entire year I actually did any sort of digging.

There are weeds growing around the tracks of my 325.

I took on gcing a house to completion at the beginning of the year. I anticipated it being about 4-5months to complete.

8months in and we are nearing the finish line of the original scope of work. Then there is the huge punch list.

I like building and gc work. I very much prefer shaping the earth.

It has been a blessing to see these clients finally get their house after a very very long extended house build. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help provide them solutions.

I do need to get back in the dirt. Thankfully I’ve been able to keep the machines. I am very much ready for them to finally start to earn some cash flow instead of just be a straight out expense.

Here’s to serving people’s dirt and tree work needs shortly.

Wallpaper.

Listen, I still hear the word wallpaper and there’s a part of me that gets sick on the inside. I grew up in the 80’s, talk about excessive amounts of wallpaper.

So I’m not a fan of wallpaper really at all. Yet wallpaper done well as an accent is growing on me a little bit.

The craftsman who installed some wallpaper this weekend did an amazing job🤘🏼

Using it in my own house is not something I would choose to do. I believe I could be talked into it in a strategic accent location.

Two drills?

It’s always a good day when the task is more productive with two drills and an impact.

We’ve been working steadily on installing the oak cap to the top of the wainscoting. fasteners are amazing. We still have to fully pre drill the very ends of each section to avoid random splitting.

We aren’t doing much dirt work right now because of a focus on another project.

It’s a little different, yet the basics are the same, serve a client while solving problems.

The guys are just killing it and I’m very grateful for the team that I have.

Do you ever wake up scared? I mean REALLY SCARED, like terrified out of your mind scared? Do you ever wake up with a million worries? Do you ever wake up feeling overwhelmed or burdened by all things business?

You are not alone.

Real talk. I wake up absolutely terrified most days. The amount of fear I feel is intense. The anxiety and worry and burdens, it pummels me REGULARLY first thing in the morning.

It all used to destroy my day and keep me in an unhealthy scarcity fearful mindset.

Small business ownership is crazy. Having many people rely on you to provide for their families weighs heavily. Working to solve business problems incessantly, provide for my family, while working to serve everyone requires seemingly more than I have to give.

I’ve been working on some tangible ways to change my mindset. First and foremost is I’m working to ACTUALLY trust God to do his part while I do what He has called me to do, my part.

I’m in training to worry about the things I can control and not worry about the things out of my control. Control the controllables.

One of the biggest tools I use is to regularly put myself through uncomfortable things, that I absolutely hate, that cause my mind and body to snap out of all the negativity. I do it through an intense outdoor workout and cold water therapy. I HATE them both.

It’s working for me. I’m very much a work in progress. There is so much more growth that needs to take place in my life, that’s why I’ll always be in training.

The next time you feel the weight of the world weighing on you pummeling you to the floor, realize, you aren’t alone and you CAN get through it.

Have you ever gotten to see where some of your favorite youtube videos take place?

My kids have been talking about going for over a year after I got the chance to stop by last year.

It was awesome to see the excitement they had checking out the builds out front, looking around the store, and viewing the shop and it’s activities from the viewing area.

Have you had an incredible short term stay experience which ended up in friendship with the hosts?

We had the privilege of staying in this amazing airbnb in salt lake the other week. It was by far our best experience in an airbnb.

The place was gorgeous. It was modern and very clean. It had all the stuff and then some. The best part was how helpful the hosts were with their huge hearts.

I feel more positive about the week when I can start it with a clean truck. I am an a**l dude about cleanliness anyway, taking that out of the equation, it just feels like it will be a better week when I can start with a clean orderly truck.

This was a quick spray and dry. It was the best I could do with limited time.
