GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE SPACE ⚡️⚡️ |
For my graduation project I made a campaign about manspreading; the phenomenon whereby men take up more physical space than women on public transport by sitting with their legs apart. It may sound like a minor detail, but it contributes to a bigger picture. This unconscious behavior symbolizes the space and the power that men have been taught to occupy. Not only the space in public transport, but also the space in the professional, intellectual, social, political and sexual field.
However, with the arrival of the Aquarian age, a transition phase has begun. The world that used to be dominated by religious hierarchy and power over the individual, will transform into a world with stronger human values and more equality between men and women. With the 'Girls just wanna have Space' campaign I facilitate this transition;
Men need to give up some space, so that women can take up more space.
