To the overthinker,
Take a deep breath.
It’s so easy to feel the weight of the world,
To grip everything until it hurts.
But remember to breathe,
Drop the shoulders,
Loosen the death grip,
And think of what’s working out.
The mind is a tricky place
Filled with streams of still thoughts
And wild valleys of uncontrolled thinking.
Yet, you can determine the path to follow,
Streams or valleys.
Whatever you decide,
Bring it before the Shepherd,
For He knows what’s good for you.
So to my overthinker,
Just breathe.
Not every thought is worth chasing down.

May Ephesians 2:10 remind us of who we are —- “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

integrity of the heart… let’s talk about it 💭
….
In yesterday’s Sunday message, this word “integrity” stuck with me for a good minute. As I sat and chewed on this word, I thought to myself: when God sees me, does He find integrity weaved in my heart?

It’s an every day question that provides deep examination of the heart. Is our lives the same or different when we are alone and with all people? I believe we all, at some point, struggled with walking in bold freedom of honoring God and not falling into the fear of man. I certainly struggled with it in my late teens because I felt afraid of “standing out” for God.

But there comes a time when God will settle this issue of grip of fear to man and fear of God. You can’t live with integrity when serving to masters in the heart. For me, God met me in a bunk bed at a camp at three in the morning because my heart was being examined by the Lord. I remember staring in the dark, as others slept, and feeling the words of God pierce my heart: “This is it Sofia. You have to choose whether to live boldly unashamed for Me or live for man and I not know you. Make your choice because you can’t continue the path you’re on with desiring Me but walking in shame of Me.”

Talk about a pit in the stomach with conviction. I had to make my choice and I don’t regret one second after saying yes to God in that bunk bed. The root to this point is that if I genuinely claimed to love God, I had to live out that love. Even if the world laughed, I had to be satisfied knowing that God was enough for me.

I say all this because integrity is a hard fruit to cultivate in a world that tries to plant weeds to suffocate the growth of integrity. We have to fight everyday to live an honorable life that the Lord finds favor in. I’m not saying it won’t be easy, but what’s better? The approval of a broken world or a graciously good Father?

I pray we choose integrity over likes of people. May our hearts cling to Jesus and be purified daily. As the world grows darker by the minute, may our hearts grow lighter with the fruit of the Spirit.

If the lilies could talk,
It would be of God’s wonderous beauty.
If the sparrows could talk,
It would be melodies of God’s provision.
Yet, why do we wonder the goodness of the Father?
If the lilies can bloom,
And the sparrows chirp,
Why can’t we rise with confident joy?
According to the Father,
We are far more precious than any other creation.
So why wonder His heart towards us,
For every new day is established with grace and mercy.
Not even the lilies and sparrows
Can compare to the love the Father has for us.
How marvelous!
How wonderful!
Let our words be praises to God,
The One who cares for us.

Let’s talk about the heart of ministering to others…

I recently talked with my family about the importance of loving others to Christ rather than arguing others into our beliefs. It all started with reading Facebook comments that were filled with proving points and I wondered, “did it solve anything?”

I’m not saying we, as believers of Christ, should shy away from sharing the gospel; however, I like to challenge us with this: who is leading in our pursuit of spreading Jesus? Are we being spirit-led or self-led? After all, being disciples require the work of the Holy Spirit.

We can attempt to argue our points but it only leads to more fuel to an uncontrolled fire. The way of Christ teaches us, in ministering, that grace always has to join in speaking the truth. Meeting others where they are with love and compassion and showing them the love Christ offered you.

Even in my own walk, I’m reminded of the immense grace Jesus offered me when I was so broken and lost. Clothing me in a garment of mercy and filling me with life. All because someone loved on me and ministered with grace into my life. Let us remember who we were without Jesus and let it fuel our hearts to spread that loving grace in our ministering.

Stand firm on the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to guide conversations. We will encounter conversations that are hard, divided, and complicated but it’s the Holy Spirit that will provide wisdom and discernment in those moments for us. It’s not about proving but loving.

Remember, we all want to feel known, loved, and belong somewhere. The Holy Spirit will convict, but our role is to show just how good our God was and is to us—even when we fall flat. Friends, just like God showed you His love and won your heart, know God can do that with others around you that may seem difficult to reach.

Our devotion to Christ has to be rooted so deep in our hearts that fear of man can’t break us. The Church has a responsibility to show the world how vital the gospel is because who else will?

The fear of God has to be the thing that drives us. What causes us to think twice before responding, love without reasoning, forgive even when it hurts, and move boldly when it feels crazy. Reverance before God is the posture that we need to walk in our callings.

Isaiah modeled this for us in Isaiah 6:
”Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me…“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬, ‭7‬-‭9
