Your antisemitism and hate for a group of people is that much louder when this is your response to something positive within the Jewish community. And your ignorance is also that much more clear when you can’t even ask a question or have a conversation to clarify...but instead you say something as repulsive as this.
Earlier this morning I sent my personal newsletter list a note about my new passion project, The Chai Tea. This is a newsletter that’s supporting Jewish-owned businesses.
This was the response by someone whose business I have previously supported.
If we can’t have conversations and instead show up like this, how are people from different backgrounds supposed to coexist?
Yes, “chai” does mean tea. But clearly this woman is so offended I would use the word Chai on anything Jewish. As many of you know, CHAI also means “life” in Hebrew.

There’s nothing more ignorant or stupid than this note that landed in my inbox this morning.
I’m sharing this because this is what the Jewish community faces MORE THAN DAILY. THIS is antisemitism. It is hate and it is hurtful. And when you don’t ask questions, and respond in such a vile and vicious manner, YOU are the one whose ignorance is on full display.
I would never in my wildest dreams imagine writing to anyone using this tone and language...let alone anyone who’s trying to support small businesses. If you’re so offended, the best thing would have been to not respond and simply unsubscribe. but this person wanted her hatred towards me to be known.
And so now I’m letting you know too.
This person doesn’t deserve your business. And I hope that if you give it to her, you never do again.
Antisemitism and hate has no place in America and shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone.
For the record, she didn’t respond to my email on slide 2. Take from it what you will.

A couple of weeks ago I shared about what happened to .fat.cookie on my Instagram. ICYMI, they were put on a BDS list and lost a lot of business. But you guys showed up BIG TIME when I shared, which was eye opening to what we are capable of doing TOGETHER.
I thought, what if we can do for more businesses what we did for Big Fat Cookie?
So, for the last few weeks something very exciting has been brewing.
The Chai Tea is a true marriage of my advocacy for the Jewish community and that of small business owners.

This applies in BOTH work life and real life, and over the last week, I had to remind myself of this not once, but twice.
One potential client was trying to push me a long, rushing me into a decision by guilting me for the time I was took off last week.
The pressure had 🚩🚩🚩🚩 all over it.
Sure, I could’ve said yes and moved ahead with the meeting while away, but guess what? I didn’t want to. Letting my boundaries go to 💩 before even starting a project is no bueno. It sets a precedent for the future expectations of this client.
I had visiting day with my kids followed by vacation time scheduled for nearly a year. This was a client who sought me out for my expertise marketing in the parenting space, five days wasn’t going to make or break a business that’s still in ideation mode.
So, this is just a reminder:
You do NOT have to say yes to everything. Part of being successful in business is knowing when to say NO.
Set boundaries and stick to them.
Trust your gut when something isn’t right.
If you don’t want to....you don’t have to.
All reasons to say no. Even more so when someone doesn’t want to respect them.

Over the weekend I received a DM in response to something I shared from someone who I greatly respect. The DM said: “She’s not for us.”
My question back was: Not for who? And who is us?
How did this person know what was for me and why am I lumped in within her version of “us.”
The gist of what I shared was from someone who has very public political views, but what I was sharing was the notion that we should channel our feelings and viewpoints into action vs. hiding behind our screens and coming after people online.
It was a great message and one I shared because I believe in it whole heartedly.
Do I agree with everything this person says and shares, certainly not. But that goes for most people these days—I may agree with you and others on some view points, and not on others. The same goes for you and what I share here. And guess what? That’s ok.
But what I do believe in without a doubt and what I would hope everyone can agree with is the notion of respect. That regardless of what the people around you believe, that you can show them a little respect.
Being rude to people online for having different opinions, or bullying people to get them to believe what you believe—that’s as un-American as it gets.
And if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. It really is quite simple.

There is NOTHING better than connecting your community with knowledge, information and experiences and then watching them use it to succeed.
There is truly NOTHING better than when one of you tells me you took away a tip from my mentorship, or a talk, or an episode of , or even just a post right here—that helped you move the needle in your own business or simply in your life.
Our favorite psychologist insists that everyone has something...in fact, she shared this tidbit of inspiration on Season 1, episode 89.

THIS is why we MUST speak up and speak out against hate and antisemitism.
I wrote back to and I will share it here. THANK YOU for taking this down. However this is ONE incident of MANY stories containing hate and antisemitism that I have heard from Jewish doctors and healthcare workers within the hospital. The hospital has a lot of work to do. I encourage the hospital to make a public statement that they don’t stand for antisemitism or hate of any kind.
Unfortunately, many of the stories shared with me were verbal and undocumented. And as I indicated yesterday, ANTISEMITISM is NOT a part of the hospitals diversity and inclusion policy in their code of conduct. BUT, NONE of these stories I have heard have any place in a hospital environment.
I hope that this situation was eye opening and a start to change for the employees within the walls of .

Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago , is one of the top ranked hospitals in the country. The key word here: HOSPITAL.
It is NOT an art gallery. Yet this week chose to display this “artwork” of doctors and healthcare workers within their hospital network.
As a hospital that treats not only Jewish patients, they also employ many Jewish doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. This display is negligent, uncalled for and absolutely vile in today’s climate.
Per Wikipedia, Hamas is an acronym of the Arabic phrase Ḥarakah al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah, meaning “Islamic Resistance Movement.”
The watermelon is a sign of Palestinian “resistance.” It’s used all over social media and throughout the violent and hateful protests to show alignment with the pricipals of a terr0rist organization.
Here are some excerpts from the Lurie Children’s Hospital Code of Ethics:
✅️ Practice courage and honesty, speak up for what is right and be accountable to our teams, people and patients.
✅️ Treat everyone fairly, appreciate differences and make meaningful connections with each other to foster allyship and belonging.
✅️ This code empowers us to do the right thing. It established standards of behavior that will allow us to fulfill our mission in a constantly changing healthcare environment.
✅️ Patient safety is a top priority at Lurie Children’s, and fostering a true culture of safety in our organization is crucial.
I will add that their Equity Diversity and Inclusion clause talks about Anti-Racism, but does not include antisemitism.
As a patient ’s, would you feel safe going into the hospital seeing this on the wall?
My children have been patients of this hospital of nearly fourteen years, I know this doesn’t make me feel safe. It also feels to me like a huge violation of their code of ethics.
Please see my stories for the link to file a complaint to the hospital to have these pieces of art removed from this supposedly neutral, safe space, which I will also add is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

This is a message that needs to be heard far and wide. As we think about what we’re going to do and mobilize our actions, watch this. Because this is the world we all live in.
