Last night I attended the premiere of “TransLatin@ Migrations”, a series of short films by TransLatina Coalition Executive Produced by the great Bamby Salcedo

Hearing these women tell their migration stories of the many obstacles they overcame all in the face of leaving their home countries which were antagonistic to them simply for being and living in their truth, and seeking a better life in the US.

One day when the time is right, I hope to share my own story but until then im taking the strength and resilience of these fellow warriors in the fight for justice, rights and dignity.

Today as we celebrate I choose to celebrate life.

About 5 years ago I almost lost my life to a bought of that stemmed from my deep seated hatred of myself and life, that I never even knew until I went into this darkness.

It was my embracing my and the acceptance of my trans that saved me.

Today I chose to claim space and TAKE UP space by sharing one of the most intimate parts of myself and a piece of my writing that I never thought would see the light of day.

But this is not for onlookers and bystanders. This is for my and siblings that might find themselves in low lows that they might not know there is a way out of. This is to give you that if you walk through the darkness and believe that there IS a tomorrow, the sun can shine brighter than you ever thought possible.

This is also for the myriad members of my - those of you who have walked this journey with me and have given me strength to keep on keeping on when left to me I would have chosen death a long time ago.

This is for my God, my Jesus, my Abba, my Mother, who never gave up on me and appeared to me in forms of love that the church would have spat on. But YOU never stopped inundating me with YOUR holy love. Oh how my soul sings praise today.

So I give thanks for LIFE. I give thanks for LOVE. I give thanks for MYSELF.

I give thanks for being in the land of the living today to celebrate being .

I never chose this life but it chose me and I count myself KISSED with the light and love of HEAVEN, right here on this earth.

Asé. Amen.
Xoxo,
Xoë

Posting some shots from my camera roll that deserve to see the light of day before 2021 is out…

Every time I return to this photo I get a flash forward of what my wedding day will look like and the measure of joy that I know will consume me.

This has been one of my hardest years yet and through it all I thank God for the gift of JOY UNBRIDLED!
