We’re seeing the first few signs of spring in Wilmington! Aside from the blanket of yellow pollen covering everything, we’re so excited to greet warmer weather 🌱☀️🌸

Mike and I have been soaking up as much time as possible in the backyard and have even started planning a few new landscaping projects! We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks.

It’s the perfect chilly weekend for cozying up by the fire…. Buttttt unfortunately when we had our chimney swept this past week we got some not so great news 🙄

Long story short, last year we had invested a pretty sizable chunk of change in repairing our chimney and adding a lining to make sure it’s safe to use. That company has since gone out of business so we found a new company to come clean and inspect it this year. When they took a look at last year’s work they discovered a lot of issues where the previous company cut corners including the chimney lining being too small to be deemed safe to use. Needless to say it makes sense why the old company is out of business in town 🙃

So… we are super bummed, and with our wedding this year, another chimney replacement is not in the cards for us this winter. So our fireplace is going to act as fashion not function this year 🤷🏻‍♀️🪵

New paint, who dis? We’re all about the craftsman style contrasting chair rail and trim in our living room! Swipe to see our before photo 👉

While there was nothing “wrong” per se with the old brown and green colors, we’d prefer to have mint chocolate chip as ice cream and not paint.

Our house is surrounded by trees and is situated at the bottom of a hill so we tend to get less natural light throughout the day. The green and brown amplified the darkness and made us feel like we were literally living in the woods. This new paint combo has dramatically brightened our space and makes it feel so much bigger!

I used Eider White in our house in NC and decided to try it here as well. I paired it with SW Gauntlet Gray for a striking contrast and am pretty pleased with how it turned out!

I can’t believe it’s been almost two years since we re-did our kitchen backsplash and I never shared a video on how we did it!
