* Bumdra means ‘Rock of One Hundred Thousand Foot Prints’. The legends say that a hundred thousand Dakinis (angels) descended here and left their footprints on the rock 800 years ago. Bumdra is about 3800m above sea level .
* Sky burial is a funeral practice in which the human co**se is placed on a mountaintop to decompose while exposed to the elements or to be eaten by scavenging animals, especially carrion birds. The function of the sky burial is simply to dispose of the remains in as generous a way as possible and to give even in death, but the practice has become obsolete today.

Southern-Bhutanese

Welcome back to one more story of tribal Girl-Bhutanese. Today I Will tell you something beautiful about Adivasi people. Their way of living and their languages and few culture and traditional they used to believe.

It's been long. I haven't written anything but this is not my regular running page. I do write when I get time and feels like I need to share something. So I hope there is nothing to mind about it. Just read and learn more.

Bhutan is one of the beautiful country with unique culture and traditional. We all know that. We are proud to be known as Bhutanese under the guidance of our supreme Commander. But how many of you know that there are different ethics of people in BHUTAN?

I know most of you haven't heard of the word," ADIVASI". Even I didn't know what does it mean. When I was kid ,Nepali people normally called as ADI- which means half and VASI- It's a kind of food that is left for many days or let's say it's food of previous day. They used to called us " Vasi bath"- Food of previous day.
But actually it's not like that. ADI in terms of Hindi was known of Earliest times or from the beginning and VASI means inhabitant or resident. Since our grandparents were believed to be an origin of India. We still carry the name as an Adivasi or Uroan people.

There shouldn't be any hatred regarding what we were known as. From where we all came from. Somehow we all are integrated from somewhere. We are origin of some place,be it ngalong, Nepali or Sarchops. We are no more individual groups. We are now united as a nation and as a Bhutanese. No matter what colour, what size, what religious we follow. We are under one roof and like a family. We are Bhutanese.

Coming to the point again Adivasi people are normally the southern Bhutanese. Quite dark in Complexion and some still depends on agriculture works. Before they used to live in small houses with mud floor. And plastering their homes with mixture of mud and cowdung was amazing. Normally keeps their home and surrounding clean. Still in southern Bhutan you will find those houses. They don't need a building to live in. They just need a home to be happy. But with Changes of time and education and jobs most of them have scattered in different places.

Every groups of people have their own linguistic so does we have our own. When we call Adivashi. It's not just one. We have different groups within it. They speak different languages. They have their own way of living and worshipping of God. But our language is Kuruk, also known as Uroan. Which I guess most of the adivashi people speaks. They have different way of dressing up. So somehow we are different but still same.

Samtse, the southern Bhutan is one of the amazing place with different ethics of people. In addition like Lhops(Doyas) are those people who have their own culture and traditional. Like wise we have so many other Nepalese( Lhotshampa),Ngalops, Sharpchops and Khen people living there. Similarly we have few community living in higher altitude like Gasa in central part of Bhutan and Sakteng in Eastern part of BHUTAN. They rarely visits town and what if people react so bad on them. So it's important how we treat our own people. Though their way of living, dressing, speaking and appearance might be different but deep inside we still carry the heart of Bhutanese. Druk Yul is the home that we live in.

Last but not the least, most of the adivashi people follow Hinduism. The amazing thing you will find in our grandparents is the tattoo which was known as ' Khoda'- the mark. It was believed that it was a gift from their parents. Small circle mark on the forehead, few design on their arms, a bangle design on theirs wrist and legs. And the alluring art on their chest. It was design as necklace. Even my mom got few design on her legs. I asked her once why was that done. She gave a beautiful explanation on it.

The art that was done on their body wasn't for fun. It was the traditional of the old people. It was not with the machine that people now do for a fashion or desire. It was a mixture of mother's milk. They exchanged their jewelery just to get that printed. And it was love of their parents.

She told me about impermanence related to that tattoo. When we die, we leave everything, our wealth, our love, our fame and we take nothing but worldly printed tattoo that our parents gave us. We have nothing to take with us but we take what our parents gifted us. You see somehow it was beautiful. Their culture grew up till their times. Similarly peiring of ears and nose when we were kid was also a kind of parents gift. Which I got already. It's such a beautiful thing to have from them.

But the modern era and olden days are completely different. People did because they believed and now people don't believe but still do. It's all about desires.
So that was just a brief introduction about my place and people.

We are no more different..Let's work together to be a better citizen. Without knowing about our own country we won't be able to be one people.
