| Petrol Price To Come Down By ₹9.5 Per Litre And Diesel By ₹ 7 Per Litre: Nirmala Sitharaman
The Central Government has decided to reduce the Central Excise Duty on petrol by ₹ 8 Per litre and diesel by ₹ 6 per litre.
"We are reducing the Central excise duty on Petrol by ₹ 8 per litre and on Diesel by ₹ 6 per litre. This will reduce the price of petrol by ₹ 9.5 per litre and of Diesel by ₹ 7 per litre. It will have revenue implication of around ₹ 1 lakh crore/year for the government," tweeted Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
"Also, this year, we will give a subsidy of ₹ 200 per gas cylinder (up to 12 cylinders) to over 9 crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This will help our mothers and sisters. This will have a revenue implication of around ₹ 6100 crore a year. ," the tweet further said.

After a record 137 days of remaining unchanged, the petrol and diesel prices were increased once again on Sunday (March 27), the fifth time in six days.
On Sunday, Petrol price saw a hike of 55 paise while Diesel price saw a hike of 57 paise in .
Petrol in Guwahati now costs Rs 98.67 per litre as against Rs 98.12 on March 26. While Diesel in Guwahati now costs Rs 84.79 per litre as against Rs 84.21 on March 26.
Petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 99.11 per litre, while diesel rates have jumped to Rs 90.42.
Petrol price in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata now stands at Rs 113.88, Rs 104.90 and Rs 108.53 per litre, respectively.
Diesel was priced at Rs 98.13, Rs 95 and Rs 93.57 per litre in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, respectively.
This is the fifth increase in fuel prices in six days after it had remained unchanged unchanged since November 2021.
On all the previous four occasions, prices had been increased by over 80 paise a litre - the steepest single-day rise since the daily price revision was introduced in June 2017.
Overall, petrol prices in Guwahati have gone up by Rs 4.09 per litre and diesel by Rs 3.50 in six days.
In India, petrol and diesel prices depend on various factors such as demand for fuel, valuation of INR against USD and consumption ratio of refineries.
The petrol and diesel prices prices in India vary from state to state, depending on local taxes like value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges.
