Dr. Kafeel Khan and Dr. Harijit Singh Bhatti, President of PMSF, addressed a press conference at Press Club of India, Delhi on Monday. Dr. Kafeel Khan, citing the various documents, claims to be victim of scapegoating by the UP government. He cites the corruption at the BRD Medical College.

Dr. Harijit Singh has always been talking in favor of the Dr. Kafeel Khan and condemn the action of termination by the UP State government. He calls it a targeted persecution and a shameful act on doctor. He also said that it is a cover-up of the ongoing corrupt practices in the state and at the hospital.

The government of Uttar Pradesh sacked Dr. Kafeel Khan on the incident of death of children at BRD medical college due to lack of oxygen in 2017. However, Dr. Kafeel Khan has been given clean by the committees that inquired his role during the incident, yet UP government has taken the step.

Anjali Bharadwaj educates us on the importance of the ‘right to information (RTI) act’ and its role in ensuring transparency and accountability, born out of a strong people’s movement to uphold India’s vibrant democracy. More than 60 lakh RTI applications are filed in India, making it the highest globally. She sheds light on the systematic dismantling of the culture of inquiry by dilution of RTI, critical institutions such as information commission, and lack of transparency in government schemes. Ms. Bharadwaj reimagines India to be a vibrant and participatory democracy that actively questions and demands accountability from the state. According to her, this requires a participatory public that questions; an environment devoid of fear or negative consequences for questioning; and the effective functioning of democratic institutions

In response to the brutal violence and sexual assault inflicted on two female AISA activists protesting against Lakhimpur massacre at Amit Shah's residence on 10th October, students, women's organizations and citizens of Delhi called for protest at the Delhi Police Headquarters at Ashoka Road. The protesters demanded suspension of ACP Pragya Anand, who ordered the assault on AISA activists Shreya and Neha along with strict action on all personnel involved in the violence.
