My mother was the pioneer in her circle of friends, being the first to marry, the first to give birth, and excelling in various aspects. While competition among women is common, my mother consistently ensured she stayed ahead, even in the smallest matters within her peer group.

I must admit, I appreciate their strong bond and friendship. Despite their subtle competition, they've managed to remain good friends—guess birds of a feather flock together.

Thus, I hurried through school, entered university ahead of any of her friends' children, and successfully completed my education.

I completed my schooling at 21. Immediately after, I pursued a second degree and then a master's degree. Unsatisfied, I went on to attain a second master's related to my initial degree.

I took great pride in my achievements and would have pursued a Ph.D. if not for one incident.

One day on Facebook, I came across a post from one of her friend's sons announcing his marriage. Despite not having pursued higher education, he was tying the knot. Meanwhile, with my two degrees and masters, my own relationship wasn't as successful.

On a different occasion, I was rushing to get home before the rain caught up with me. A 2008 Corolla pulled up in front of me and offered a lift—it was another child of my mom's friend. He was a bolt rider and had acquired the car. Despite not pursuing education, he owned a car. In contrast, with my two degrees and two masters, I didn't have a car.

On a different occasion, following a church service, another daughter of my mom's friend introduced me to her future husband. While she was involved in POS and provisions, she was set to marry a lawyer.

There are quite a number of other experiences, but this is where I set a boundary. I had hurried through school all my life, viewing it as a trophy. I often looked at others and deemed them inferior.

Meanwhile, I found myself lacking in another aspect, just like they did. While I acknowledge my mom's desire for the best, I've put my academic pursuits on hold for now. I aim to acquire life skills, embrace marriage, and fully experience life!

End note; our house maid, he wasn't allowed to go beyond secondary school. Rather, he became a tailor. As i write this, he is currently studying Human Kinetics at the University. Many times, he has helped me with urgent 2k.

Life!! So many lessons

I come from a good family. Both of my parents are doing well, dad is a lecturer and mom is a banker, always away work work work.

Before we went home for the last holidays, a friend in my clique moved to a new apartment. It was a high-cost apartment. In Lagos, everybody knows that a student cannot afford such on their own.

We all clapped for her, you know; she had just caught a money bag fish. She changed her wardrobe and started doing quite well. Honestly, lowkey, I envied her.

I didn't visit her because we are not so close, i only heard about her stuff from close friends.

My dad and mom had a quarrel. My mom has been upset with dad over a loan he took from her bank and has not paid. She was really upset because his explanations didn't go well with her. He said he was taking the money to send to his extended family to renovate their house and just keep fit for the holidays; he was just touched to assist them, blah, blah, blah. However, the money he borrowed was in excess. Their quarrel was massive, and they weren't speaking since the 27th of last year.

Basically, they got into the new year quarrelling.. It got worst, dad started keeping out.

So, school has resumed, you know; it has been exciting and all. Leaving the house to come get fresh air and connect with my friends again.

Another of my friends suggested we visit # # # # # #; she hasn't been at school, and she complained of being sick. So another of our friends, whose boyfriend has a car, decided we just go pay her a surprise visit.

We got to the address, nice environment, beautiful houses, and all. But then when we called her, she wouldn't pick up. She had told us she was home before we left school, but then vehemently denied she was home when we called the second time as we got there. It was a surprise visit.

We told her we could even hear her voice taking the call from outside because it is a quiet neighborhood, but she said it wasn't her.

Something prompted me to peek through the gate. From what I could see, there was a car that looked just like my father's car. It was the only car in the compound, i couldn't see the plates but i know my dad's car when i see it.

My friends were just upset she wouldn't come out, so we drove away. But then, why is my dad's car there? I couldn't tell anyone because I felt embarrassed.

Could it be he is the one funding her? Does this explain the loan?
Should i tell my mom, or should i keep shut and mind my business?

Afterall, i do my own stuffs too🤔

Hello Auntie Jenny, please post for me. I am in a very serious dilemma, and I don't know what to do.

I have a suitor; we have been dating for three years now, and he really wishes to marry me. He is a fine gentleman and doesn't have any problems at all.

The issue is with me; everything about me is the problem. Firstly, my age is incorrect. I'm not 27 as he thinks because that is what is on my school certificates and affidavits; I am 34. I had to swear that affidavit because there was a date error on my DOB in my WAEC. I don't understand how, but I needed to get into Uni at that time, so I swore the affidavit rather than having WAEC change it.

Secondly, I was in another relationship before now. I have two children, though they stay with the parents of my ex fiance. My ex-fiancé dumped me because, according to him, I was not faithful; however, this was untrue.

I am very petite in stature, and I look way younger than my age; men are just drawn to me. The fact that I have even given birth doesn't even reflect on my body. I have a natural innocent Angel look, don't judge me; na God give me

My ex-fiancé became so insecure and became abusive, so we ended.

I only came to the East for a visit, then I got a job by chance. That was how I ended up here, and my current man found me.

I never thought the relationship would last long. I only kept him then because I needed support, and he was ready to provide for me.

But the relationship has grown stronger; he genuinely loves me. I have been careful to keep other men away.

I always envisaged that it would take a long time before he gets to a point where he would want to settle down. However, he landed a good job last year and has prepared a proposal for me. His sister leaked it to me so that I will not embarrass him.

I am so confused. According to his sister, he intends to propose on Valentine's Day this year. Should I just move on with my life and accept it without informing him, or should I tell him?

Or should I wait until we are married?
