The Toledo Walleye held serve on their home ice in the first two games of the Central Division Final Series, as the scene will shift to Wheeling in the coming week. Brandon Hawkins snapped a second-period deadlock with a controversial goal, and the Walleye followed that up with three more, as recorded a 5-2 win for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The second round comes to Wheeling's Wesbanco Arena this Tuesday evening.

The Wheeling Nailers hit a bump in the road on Friday night, as they opened their Central Division Final Series against the Toledo Walleye at Huntington Center. Toledo got rolling quickly with four goals in the first 22 minutes of play, and carried that effort to a 5-1 game one victory. Josh Maniscalco tallied the lone goal for the Nailers on a first-period power play.

Following this evening, the series shifts to Wheeling.

In memory of their parents, the Calissie family is once again spearheading a Summer Swim Pass program which will provide pool passes for children who could not otherwise afford them. With support from the community and Wheeling’s Department of Parks & Recreation, The Calissie family hopes to provide passes to many kids in need. Last year, the program funded more than 300 pool passes.

The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced their schedule for the Central Division Final Round of the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Nailers will face the Toledo Walleye in a best-of-seven series, which begins on Friday night at Huntington Center. Both teams went the distance in their opening-round series, which each concluded on Tuesday night.

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is announcing that a bat has tested positive for rabies. The bat was found in the Wheeling Island area of Wheeling. The bat did not have a human or domestic animal encounter but was noticeably sick. The bat was collected by the health department on Friday, April 29, 2022, and tested positive for rabies on May 3, 2022.

The Wheeling Nailers advanced to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in the most thrilling of fashions on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 3-2 in overtime of game seven at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
