Monarch's son sends cultists to eliminate his father in Ogun

Six suspected members of Eiye cult group were on Sunday, September 11 arrested by men of Ogun state Police command while attempting to kill a traditional ruler in his palace.

A statement released by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, gave the names of the suspects as Michael Ayodele, Monday Samuel, Ademola Matthew, Hammed Jelili, Ogundele Ojeh and Sunkanmi Fadina. He said the suspects were arrested following a distress call received at Oja odan divisional headquarters from the Oba of Gbokoto land, Oba G.O Olukunle, at about 4:25 pm, that some cultists were about to kill him in his palace .

''Upon the distress call, the DPO Oja- Odan division, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the palace, where they met the hoodlums shooting sporadically within the palace.

The policemen engaged them in shootout and eventually subdued the cultists and got six amongst them arrested.

On interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed been members of the dreaded Eiye confraternity. They also informed the police that, it was the son of the Oba who is now at large that invited them to come and eliminate his father because of an unresolved issue the Oba has been having with his mother. ''Oyeyemi said

The police spokesperson added that Items recovered from them include one locally made double barrel pistol, two live cartridges and one expended cartridge, while the son of the Oba who has taken to flight was said to have escaped with another gun belonging to the group.

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation with the view to charge them to court on the conclusion of the investigation.
The CP also ordered a massive manhunt for the fleeing son of the Oba in order to bring him to justice.

Police Rescue Suspected Terrorist From Lynching In Lagos

�The Lagos State police command on Monday, saved a suspected terrorist, Sanni Gafar, 29, from mob action in the Ijora Badia area of the state.

According to the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, Gafar was dressed as a woman as of the time of the mob action.

Hundeyin said, “Preliminary investigation shows that the male suspect, who many alleged disguised as a woman, is Sanni Gafar, aged 29. He was found with a bag containing three hammers, six screwdrivers, one pair of pliers, one chisel, five spanners, three rolls of black cellophane, cable wires, 20mm bending spring, a pair of black trousers, and a plastic box of clips. Investigation is ongoing to ascertain his claim that he is an electrician.”

Gunmen Kill 3-Policemen And Five Vigilantes in Kogi State..
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists ambushed security operatives at Jidda-Bassa community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi state, killing three police officers and five vigilantes.

It was gathered that persons living in Jidda-Bassa community reported to the Divisional Police Officer that unknown gunmen had attacked their farms on Saturday, July 30 and carted away produce.

The DPO mobilised some of his men and the vigilantes to the scene, but before they could get to the farm, they were ambushed by some unknown gunmen.

During the attack three policemen and five vigilantes were killed.

According to sources who spoke to journalists, the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre’s mortuary.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Government has vowed to arrest those behind the killings.

Security Adviser to the Kogi State Governor, Jerry Omodara made this known on Saturday, while confirming the attack in Lokoja.

He said the state government will take proactive steps to arrest the situation pointing out that all those involved in the killings will surely be apprehended.

Omodara added that the state government is doing its best to curb criminal elements in the state.

He sympathised with the families of those that lost their lives during the ambush.

Two Nollywood Actors Feared Kidnapped In Enugu

Two Nollywood actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell, have been reported missing in Enugu State.

Actress and Director of Communications, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Monalisa Chinda, revealed this in a statement on her Instagram page, on Friday.

According to the statement, the two actors were reported missing after their family members confirmed they didn't come back from a film location at Ozalla Town, Enugu state.

Due to the situation, the National President of the Guild, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has urged all actors to avoid going to outskirts of cities to film except full security cover is provided to ensure their safety.

KOGI KIDNAPPING:

On the 17th July , 2022 at about 2305 hours, information received from Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Obajana that gunshots were heard along New Bye Pass Road, close to Trailer Park - PTI Obajana.

The DPO immediately mobilized Patrol Teams to the scene, where they met one white Baw 18 Seater passenger Bus with registration No. GWA 295 YR, driven by one Usman Abdullahi 'm' with six occupants, who identified themselves as Police Officers from Nasarawa State Police Command returning from just concluded Osun Governorship Election.

The officers narrated that their vehicle developed mechanical fault, which led them to dropped out of their convoy and while trying to fixed the vehicle, armed men suddenly emerged from the bush, forcefully kidnapped ten officers.

Anti-Kidnapping Team have been deployed to the area, currently tracking hoodlums for possible rescue of the officers. Meanwhile, the remaining contingent were accommodated at Command Headquarters.

According to Kogi State Police Command " Investigation is in progress. "

EFCC Presents More Evidence Against Naira Marley, Trial Adjourned Till Sept 26

The trial of Azeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley continued today, July 15, 2022, before Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos with a prosecuting witness, Dein Whyte, an operative of the EFCC continuing his evidence even as the court dismissed the defendant’s objection to the forensic evidence earlier presented by the witness.

Fashola is standing trial on an 11-count charge bordering on credit card fraud brought against him by the EFCC.

At the last sitting on June 9, 2022, the defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo SAN objected to the witness's opinion on the forensic evidence linking the defendant to credit card fraud. He had argued that only the court could make pronouncements on the defendant’s culpability, not an investigator.

At the resumed trial today, Justice Oweibo delivered a short ruling in which he dismissed the defense’s objection. “It is the duty of the law enforcement agency or Police, to charge a person to court to investigate if the defendant committed the crime or not. The investigator must be able to link the defendant to the commission of the crime. The prosecutor must have made up his mind as to the involvement of the defendant before bringing the case to court. I do not agree that the prosecution has declared the defendant guilty”, the Judge ruled.

Just In: Actor Baba Ijesha convicted for s assault, sentenced to 16 years in jail

Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, better known as Baba Ijesha, has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for s ass@ulting a 14-year-old minor.

He was convicted and sentenced by a Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday, July 14.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a two-hour judgement convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, s ass@ult and attempted s ass@ult.

Taiwo, however, discharged and acquitted him of count one and count six, which were: s ass@ult by pe*******on and attempted s ass@ult by pe*******on.

Recall that the convict was arrested in April, 2021 for s ass@ulting the daughter of his colleague, Damilola Adekoya, aka Princess.

On November 3, 1998, in Florida, 14-year-old Josh Phillips murdered eight-year-old Maddie Clifton, put her co**se under his bed, and slept on top of her body for a week.

That day, Phillips was simply playing baseball when Clifton asked to play with him. But then, he accidentally hit her in the face with his ball.

She cried aloud and Josh, fearing reprisal from his parent, took her inside, strangled, and beat her with a baseball bat to keep her quiet.

By 5 pm the same day, Clifton was reported missing. Phillips went in, removed his mattress, and slit the girl’s throat. He stabbed her seven times in the chest and put her under his bed.

For the next seven days, the whole neighborhood searched for Clifton. Even Phillips's household joined in her search.

This whole time, Phillips slept with her body concealed beneath his bed, covering the smell with air fresheners and incense. And while the police searched his house for Maddie, Phillips' mother told them that the odd smell coming from Phillip's room was just because of the many birds he kept in there as pets (mind you, they didn't know).

Seven days later, Phillips' mother went to clean his room while he was at school one day and she noticed an unusual wet spot on the floor. And when she went in for a closer look, she found the mutilated body of little Maddie Clifton.

Phillips got a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Are mosquitoes useful at all?

While they can seem useless and totally annoying and disturbing, mosquitoes are really important because they play a substantial role in the ecosystem.

First, just like bees, mosquitoes too are pollinators. They help us pollinate plants.

Secondly, mosquitoes are good food source for fish as larvae and for birds, bats and frogs as adult flies.

Thirdly, mosquitoes help filter waste, which aids plant life. They also make nutrients such as nitrogen that plants feed on to survive.

Finally, researchers are now examining mosquitoes for medical treatments, and are looking at mosquito saliva as a possible treatment for cardiovascular disease, one of the biggest killers of people. Scientists hope mosquito saliva might contain properties that can lead to the development of anti-clotting drugs.

Perhaps we all hate mosquitoes and consider them useless because they transmit diseases.

But that's unfair (to some extent) if we consider that there are more than 3,500 mosquito species. And only about 400 out of that 3,500 species can transmit diseases like West Nile virus, Zika, malaria, etc. In addition, most mosquitoes don’t feed on humans at all.

Two Arrested For Stealing Sallah Ram in Ogun

Men of the Ogun State police command on July 5 arrested the duo of Adetunji Alagbe and Opeyemi Ogunlokun for stealing a Sallah ram belonging to one Sodiq Abolore.

The suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Ogijo divisional headquarters by Sodiq Abolore, who reported that while he was sleeping in his house at about 3 am, he heard an unusual noise in his compound which made him to peep through the window, only to discover that the iron gate he used to block the entrance where he kept his Salah ram has been pulled down.

Abolore said this made him come out and discovered that his Sallah ram which he bought at the rate of #120,000 is no longer there.

He stated further that when he searched around, he saw three men forcing his ram into a waiting Mazda car booth, which made him to raise alarm, and distress call was made to the police.

The three men were chased, and two amongst them were apprehended, while the other one escaped.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the ram was recovered, and the two suspects were taken to custody.
