Missing person cases are critically time sensitive.
Especially for children.
But even with adults, law enforcement know the ability to find someone who is missing diminishes dramatically as time passes.
So when the puzzle starts to come together, and detectives recognize something is very wrong or abnormal they jump on it!
In this case, a man's adult daughter was missing. She was a responsible adult who ran a daycare in her home, paid her bills and was a good neighbor.
So when she didn't show up to open the daycare lots of worried parents started asking around, the NYPD got involved and eventually even the press started showing up.
The pressure was on.
So when Detective (Ret) Kristian Flood heard that her father was "keeping" her wallet, cell phone and other personal items, which was HIGHLY unusual, the alarm bells went off in his head.
Did he wait around for the gentleman to show up at the station?
No way.
What would you do?

Anxiety, Self-doubt and a myriad of other social disorders are rampant in today's society.
WHY?
That's certainly a complicated question with a VERY complicated answer.
Or is it?
Humans are social creatures. We're wired to interact with each other. And not through an electronic device, but in person.
Yes, we can reach thousands and even millions of people we might not otherwise through the internet, social media, etc, but when it comes to meeting, getting to know and developing an actual relationship with people it MUST be in person.
The value of shaking a business partners hand, seeing a smile on a person's face, watching a kid's soccer game with other families in the stands, sending teenagers off to a school dance, eating lunch with a work colleague etc etc - are all incalculable and dramatically contribute to the experience we call life.
No machine can give that to us.
Electronic devices filter the emotions and feelings out of interactions and make them, well, inhuman.
As if we weren't heading down the lockdown path before, then the pandemic hits and the geniuses in public health decide the best thing we can do it isolate ourselves from others. COMPLETELY isolate.
To the point we were trying to say our last goodbyes to a spouse, grandparent, friend or other loved one through facetime or panes of glass.
We'll never know the full damage that caused but it was infinitely more devastating than the virus was.
Now that the pandemic is over, are we going back to being human?
Some are, but many aren't.
Don't spend your days on this earth being a cyborg.
Get out and find other people to interact with.
I promise your life will be infinitely more fulfilling!

All Things Crime is a new, comprehensive video series that will explore every aspect of crime and the ensuing investigation, one video interview at a time. Th
Leaks. They can ruin your whole day.
And it doesn't matter if it's a marketing strategy, a leak of information from a criminal investigation or a toilet leak, they are all damaging.
And the vultures are always circling - ready to pounce on any tidbit of info and magnify it beyond any reasonable degree.
In the Moscow, Idaho quadruple murder case many seasoned investigators couldn't believe the information that was being leaked - by one of the victim's father!!
Eventually that stopped, probably because they stopped giving him updates, but what was leaked could have been unbelievably damaging.
Fortunately they caught the killer and we're praying the leaked information doesn't affect the trial.
This is a constant battle criminal investigators fight.
Naturally, everyone is curious about heinous crimes.
Some salivate over every morsel.
And any media that can get a "scoop" to feed that hunger will benefit from the clicks to awards.
Sadly, in the end, it's the victims who may suffer. AGAIN.
Yes, leaked details of an investigation can tip off a suspect, compromise evidence, give away an interrogation tactic, taint a jury pool and even cause a trial to be flipped so the suspect goes free.
It's happened in the past and will happen in the future.
That's why so many investigators avoid the press like the plague and have an IPO and command staff who run interference for them.
But it's also the nature of the society we live in.
All they ask is we be a little patient and trust they are doing their jobs and we will get the info as soon as it can safely be put out.
After all is said and done we have to keep the victims in mind.
Everything else, including your own glory, is secondary!
Do you know of a case that has been compromised by a leak?

Atlanta. Seattle. Portland. Minneapolis. Louisville. Dallas. LA.
Where else have "peaceful protests" resulted in smashed windows and burned out police vehicles?
And equally important is to ask why these riots have occurred?
For most it boils down to one word - respect.
There used to be a healthy, albeit opposing, respect between cops and criminals.
Almost like two teams on opposite sides of the court or field.
That respect is gone.
It's now more like a warzone.
Detective (Ret) Scott Wagner describes it perfectly. "Once the handcuffs were on, the fight was over".
Not anymore.
Not only do the suspects fight all the way to the station, but the bystanders frequently get involved to exasperate the situation.
I've seen vids of girlfriends twerking in cops faces, friends of the suspect who cowardly attack cops from behind, people who throw water and taunt cops daring them to respond, and endless people videoing the entire encounter rather than helping.
No respect.
And the criminals don't respect the people either, especially the elderly who used to be off limits.
You attacked someone's grandma? Dude, that crossed the line.
Now? Fair game. No one is exempt from the cowardly wrath of the thug looking for a quick buck or two.
And let's not forget what caused the riot in Atlanta two nights ago.
An activist shot at the cops. SHOT AT THEM.
Compared to most, cops are amazingly composed people. They take more abuse than 99% of normal people would ever tolerate. But they will not be shot at without responding.
And because a stupid 26 yr old activist decided to shoot at the cops he's now dead.
And the city of Atlanta is cleaning up and trying to recover from a night of violence and rioting the anarchists unleashed as a result of it.
Society is on the edge folks. We have potential food shortages on the horizon, energy costs are skyrocketing, NWO elitists are suggesting we start eating bugs, and crime from burglary to murders is rising at an uncontrollable rate, a
Ever had a boss tell you to start over?
All your hard work is garbage?
Do the same thing again and again, even though you know you did it right?
Yeah, that's frustrating.
Fact it just sucks.
Most of us wouldn't put up with it very long.
Well, guess what's happening with our law enforcement?
Especially in the big cities.
New York. Philadelphia. LA. Houston. Chicago. Just to name a few.
What do they all have in common?
District Attorneys who refuse to prosecute criminals.
And no bail policies.
Those two, combined with politicians who really don't care and refuse to allocate enough resources to their police creates the perfect storm.
Who suffers?
Not the DAs or the politicians.
It's the citizens. Especially those in marginalized areas.
In the 80s and 90s NYC was a bloodbath.
2700 murders a year.
That's over 7 PER DAY!
But then America's Mayor came in and enabled the NYPD to do what it took to clean up the streets and that murder rate dropped to 300.
Not bad for a city of 8 million with almost 20 million in the surrounding areas.
But now the crime rate is rising again.
Why?
Because all the policies and proactive policing have been shut down.
And the police are frustrated.
They want to help. They want to do their jobs. But the DA and the mayor won't let them.
How many victims will it take for the people in charge to get replaced and legit tough-on-crime folks put in their place?
Sadly, we are finding out in real time.
If you were in charge of NYPD or another major law enforcement agency, what would you do?

How amazing is Moscow, Idaho PD?
Before they arrested Bryan Kohberger, even some of the parents of the victims were criticizing them.
They were being accused of incompetence, stonewalling, moving too slow and a million other things.
Everything EXCEPT they were hot on the trail of the killer.
In full disclosure, I thought they were in over their heads and should call in some seasoned detectives like Cloyd to help.
Fortunately I was wrong about that!
What we WERE right about, is how much sensitive information was being leaked to the press - which was a big reason for the feeding frenzy surrounding this case.
As brutal, heinous and mind-numbing as the animalistic slaying of those four college kids was, there are LOTS of cases out there that are just as grotesque if not worse.
So why has this one received so much attention?

Check out this clip from our latest episode about the Aurora theater shooter!
It not only highlights the evil of the shooter himself, but also what our lack of mental health facilities has done to society.
We literally have insane and evil people walking amongst us because some in society have refused to acknowledge that there is a serious need for psychological care at a much more robust level than what we currently have.

My mom's funeral was last Saturday.
Yeah, that sucked.
Pain, sorrow, grief, anger, disbelief, confusion, and every other emotion possible.
But I have comfort in knowing mom had a great life of 79 years.
I think I have a small glimpse into how a parent or other family member of a murder victim feels.
And what's worse is many homicides are avoidable.
Yes, homicides are going up in many areas, just as crime in general is.
But who is committing these crimes?
It's a very small portion of society.
Maybe 5%. Likely smaller.
They are just emboldened by the lax rules many DAs and some politicians are enacting.
If you're in one of those areas that is getting out of control, you have the chance to vote them out next Tuesday.
Remember that YOU, as a voter, always have a say in what kind of society you want to live in.
